Despite Terence Stamp\u2019s death last year, Priscilla, Queen Of The Desert is still <a href=\"http:\/\/Priscilla, Queen Of The Desert\" rel=\"nofollow\">sashaying toward a sequel<\/a>. Star Guy Pearce, who was on the red carpet for his new movie, The Dog Stars, assured fans and Good Morning America\u2018s James Longman that the follow-up is coming soon. Delighted to hear that the first film was Longman\u2019s \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reels\/DcRyhzNifbb\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">gay awakening<\/a>,\u201d Pearce threw his arm around the reporter and confirmed, \u201cWell, the sequel, which is going to be\u2014what are we now, \u201926? We\u2019ll probably shoot it \u201927, it\u2019ll come out \u201928.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>We actually have AI to thank for the sequel coming together, but not to bolster some lie about cheaper, more efficient movie productions. Rather, it\u2019s because late star Terrence Stamp, who played Bernadette Bassenger in the original, didn\u2019t want some \u201cdigital clone\u201d taking his role. Instead, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.avclub.com\/terence-stamp-pre-shot-priscilla-queen-of-the-desert-2\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">director Stephen Elliott pre-shot \u201call of the Bernadette scenes\u201d with Stamp<\/a>, who \u201cwasn\u2019t getting any younger[\u2026]a fact he loved to shove down our throats almost every day.\u201d Elliott says that \u201cwhen the AI wars broke out\u201d\u2014which somehow isn\u2019t a line from a science fiction novel\u2014Stamp was \u201cindignant that he didn\u2019t want a digital clone of himself playing Bernadette.\u201d Apparently, the actor wanted a chance to \u201cput the character down himself, and I will quote him in this case, \u2018Just in case I don\u2019t make the start line.&#8217;\u201d Stamp died just over a year ago this month at the age of 87.<\/p>\n<p>                            <script async src=\"\/\/www.instagram.com\/embed.js\"><\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Long live the queen.
