BETHEL TWP., Pa. \u2013 A possible mental health crisis led to police temporarily shutting down roads in Bethel Township, Berks County, on Monday afternoon, authorities said.<\/p>\n
The Bethel Township Police Department said it was alerted to an address on Bennett Street where a male was reported to be having a mental health crisis and possibly committed a criminal act. Police said officers made sure the male remained in the home and posed no threat to the public until the Berks County Emergency Response Team arrived on scene.<\/p>\n
During that time, the police department asked the public to steer clear of Bennett Street, Bashore Street and Swope Road.<\/p>\n
The male was taken into custody shortly after 6 p.m., police said, and all roadways reopened Monday night.<\/p>\n
