Huawei has shown its Huawei<\/a> Watch D3 at a medical conference ahead of its full unveiling, expected within the next few days. <\/p>\n The watch was demonstrated at the European Society of Cardiology Congress, a medical expo held in Munch from August 28 to 31. <\/p>\n It\u2019s one of the few consumer wearables that has a fairly sound reason to be at such a show. The Huawei Watch D3 is the latest generation of Huawei\u2019s blood pressure watches, a series established in 2021. <\/p>\n Images of the watch also leaked last week, showing its main innovation, that it is slimmer than its predecessors despite continuing to use very unusual \u2014 for this category \u2014 blood pressure sensing tech. <\/p>\n Huawei Central<\/a> writes the new design is intended to improve upon the accuracy of blood pressure readings when the wearer has a higher heart rate. <\/p>\n The Huawei Watch D<\/a> family uses an inflatable cuff, effectively a micro version of the most common way to take a person\u2019s blood pressure. <\/p>\n Huawei Watch D3 Specs<\/p>\n It is just 11.4mm thick according to leaked specs. This is down from 13.3mm in the Huawei Watch D2<\/a> and 13.6mm for the original Watch D. <\/p>\n This is similar to the latest generation Apple Watch Ultra, which is listed as 12mm thick. <\/p>\n Some of the most interesting tech of the Watch D3 is found in the strap rather than the watch itself, though. The series employs a micro pump to inflate the strap. <\/p>\n And like the Huawei Watch D2, it is expected to offer 24-hour blood pressure monitoring. This was the major advancement of the previous generation, with its Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring feature. <\/p>\n It is not, as you might guess, a purely passive experience. Instead, the watch prompts you to record a reading every 30 minutes, buzzing to let you know to get in the right position for a reading. It also takes readings while you are asleep. <\/p>\n Apple is also expected to introduce improvements to its hypertension alerts with the upcoming Apple Watch Series 12<\/a> or Watch Ultra 4, due to be announced in September. However, this will not use bespoke hardware like Huawei\u2019s, instead relying on the LED lights and light sensors used for heart rate and blood oxygenation readings. <\/p>\n Other expected specs for the Huawei Watch D3 include a large 1.92-inch screen, 540mAh battery and 6-day battery life. <\/p>\n
