{"id":611444,"date":"2026-09-01T18:28:11","date_gmt":"2026-09-01T18:28:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/611444\/"},"modified":"2026-09-01T18:28:11","modified_gmt":"2026-09-01T18:28:11","slug":"amendment-71-new-opportunity-a-16-cryosphere","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/611444\/","title":{"rendered":"Amendment 71: New Opportunity: A.16 Cryosphere"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/nspires.nasaprs.com\/external\/solicitations\/summary.do?solNum=NNH25ZDA001N-CRYO\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">A.16 Cryosphere<\/a> solicits\u00a0high-impact efforts\u00a0focused on\u00a0sea ice,\u00a0ice sheets, and glaciers.\u00a0The expectation is that proposed\u00a0investigations\u00a0will use\u00a0the wealth of\u00a0data from\u00a0NASA\u00a0satellites and\u00a0airborne\u00a0campaigns\u00a0to\u00a0address\u00a0the most urgent\u00a0and impactful\u00a0topics in cryospheric science, as identified in the\u00a0National Academy of Sciences Decadal Survey,\u00a0Thriving on Our Changing Planet: A Decadal Strategy for Earth Observation from Space\u00a0(2018),\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nap.edu\/catalog\/24938\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/www.nap.edu\/catalog\/24938<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Potential topics\u00a0include but are not limited to:<\/p>\n<p>Interactions between ice, ocean, atmosphere, and land,\u00a0and\u00a0their\u00a0impacts on the\u00a0Earth system\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Ice sheet stability, including observations of processes that govern stability and their representation in models<\/p>\n<p>Seasonal-to-decadal prediction\u00a0of sea ice, ice sheets,\u00a0and glaciers, with specific focus on Arctic sea ice\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">ROSES-2025 Amendment 71 releases A.16 Cryosphere as a new opportunity in ROSES-25. Mandatory Notices of Intent are due by October 16, 2026, and proposals are due December 4, 2026.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A briefing for proposers to this program element will occur approximately 6 weeks before the proposal due date.
