\t\t\t\t\tMarcus King Covers Wilco, Advocates for Positive Mental Health Practices Via \u2018Song That Found Me at the Right Time\u2019 Series\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n
Marcus King is the latest artist to record a video on the \u2018Song That Found Me at the Right Time.\u2019 This artist-led series has been created by the nonprofit Sounds of Saving <\/a>(SoS) and Vibrant Emotional Health, the nonprofit administrator of the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline<\/a>. The goals is to utilize \u201cmusic as an entry point for candid conversations about mental health and encouraging people to seek support when they need it.\u201d<\/p>\n In the video King performs \u201cEither Way,\u201d from Wilco\u2019s 2007 album Sky Blue Sky. He notes, \u201cThe song that found me that I\u2019ve really connected with in a profound way is a song \u2018Either Way\u2019 by Wilco. I\u2019d never played the song before until today, but that song had quite a profound impact on me.\u201d<\/p>\n Over the years, King has long been candid about his own mental health path. As he says in the film, \u201cThe more we speak about it, the more open we are about it, the less stigma there is to it. It\u2019s really important to speak to these things and to share your own journeys and to have an open ear and an open heart to other people\u2019s journeys.\u201d <\/p>\n He also speaks to the importance of therapy, noting, \u201cIf you feel like you want to reschedule it, that means you probably need it the most. It can be really challenging, so it\u2019s good to have people you can reach out to who share a similar struggle and lean on them for some accountability and support.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cMarcus embodies so much of what we hoped Song That Found Me at the Right Time could be,\u201d says Charlie Gross, co-founder of Sounds of Saving. \u201cHe\u2019s an extraordinary musician who is also willing to speak openly about what he\u2019s been through and the things that continue to help him. He does this in a way that doesn\u2019t rely on prescriptives or jargon but on very specific ways he has learned to handle his own thoughts and behaviors over the years. Music can give us a way into conversations that are otherwise incredibly difficult to start.
