Apple Pay has become one of the most popular payment methods in the world. It\u2019s so universally available that even Walmart<\/a> finally gave in and added support.<\/p>\n

And with its popularity, any significant change Apple implements could be risky\u2014especially a design change like iOS 27 brings.<\/p>\n

Apple Pay has a new design in iOS 27<\/a> when checking out in apps or on the web. And I\u2019m happy to report it\u2019s a fantastic upgrade that\u2019s better in every way.<\/p>\n

The old checkout design had a couple main faults:<\/p>\n

Switching cards wasn\u2019t intuitive<\/p>\n

Onscreen data wasn\u2019t easy to parse at a glance<\/p>\n

Despite years of using Apple Pay, I\u2019ve still never gotten used to the historic method for switching cards. I always tap near the top where the active card is displayed, only to load the address screen and have to go back to find the actual card selection menu.<\/p>\n

iOS 27 fixes that. When you first open the checkout interface, you\u2019ll see additional cards on either side of your default card, indicating you can swipe between them to switch. It\u2019s quick, easy, and far more intuitive.<\/p>\n

Additionally, iOS 27 shows more information onscreen at once, and uses colorful icons to denote relevant info like shipping method and address, billing address, and more.<\/p>\n

The redesign makes it much easier to verify everything is accurate and as it should be. Then you can quickly double click to pay with the assurance there are no mistakes.<\/p>\n

Changing the design for something used by millions, and with real-world consequences for errors, is a tall task. But in my opinion, Apple has done a fantastic job with iOS 27\u2019s Apple Pay revamp.<\/p>\n
