{"id":612962,"date":"2026-09-03T06:22:10","date_gmt":"2026-09-03T06:22:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/612962\/"},"modified":"2026-09-03T06:22:10","modified_gmt":"2026-09-03T06:22:10","slug":"uob-artbeat-turns-the-banks-art-collection-inside-out","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/612962\/","title":{"rendered":"UOB Artbeat turns the bank&#8217;s art collection inside out"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-testid=\"article-description\">A new festival at Tanjong Pagar Distripark puts four decades of collecting into conversation<\/p>\n<p class=\"whitespace-pre-wrap break-words mb-4 md:mb-6\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-component\">[SINGAPORE] UOB has been collecting Singapore art since the 1970s, and its Painting of the Year competition, founded in 1982, has become one of the region\u2019s longest-running art prizes.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"whitespace-pre-wrap break-words mb-4 md:mb-6\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-component\">Its latest undertaking, UOB Artbeat, brings some of that history out of storage and into public view.<\/p>\n<p class=\"whitespace-pre-wrap break-words mb-4 md:mb-6\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-component\">Held across two weekends from Aug 29 to Sep 6 at Artspace@Helutrans in Tanjong Pagar Distripark, the inaugural festival is both an art exhibition and an introduction to the machinery that surrounds art: how artists are discovered and how works are made.<\/p>\n<p>  <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/a7d7d851feb4fad7ab5e6212b8918ffe3d286fdc16320ec768b1007f7bbc03a5.webp\" alt=\"\" height=\"641\" width=\"1140\" class=\"block max-w-full w-full\"\/> Also on display are shortlisted finalists from the Emerging Artist category of this year\u2019s UOB Painting of the Year competition.
