{"id":613360,"date":"2026-09-03T18:10:08","date_gmt":"2026-09-03T18:10:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/613360\/"},"modified":"2026-09-03T18:10:08","modified_gmt":"2026-09-03T18:10:08","slug":"hottest-summer-on-record-worrying-to-see","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/613360\/","title":{"rendered":"Hottest summer on record &#8216;worrying to see&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Summer 2026 was the hottest ever recorded in Ireland, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rte.ie\/news\/ireland\/2026\/0903\/1590190-weather-ireland-stats\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">according to a provisional report from Met \u00c9ireann<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>While many people in the seaside town of Bray, Co Wicklow enjoyed the sunny days and hot weather, they also acknowledged that rising temperatures are cause for concern.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s a bit worrying, it&#8217;s sad to see the actual effects of climate change in reality here,&#8221; Brendan Bergin told RT\u00c9 News.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s not being treated like an emergency at all and it&#8217;s a bit sad to see it played-off as a nice thing.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Aileen Maguire described it as a &#8220;beautiful summer&#8221; that she enjoyed with her family, but said it does make her worry about the future.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I worry for my grandchildren because I don&#8217;t think it&#8217;s going to be sustainable if the weather keeps heating up like this,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>Ian Bolton said the summer temperatures did not worry him as he would &#8220;take bad winters if we get good summers&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>He added: &#8220;While I said I&#8217;m not worried about the summers, long-term, you would be silly not to be worried about climate change.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Watch the video to hear more from people on the Bray seafront.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Summer 2026 was the hottest ever recorded in Ireland, according to a provisional report from Met \u00c9ireann.
