{"id":613618,"date":"2026-09-03T23:26:09","date_gmt":"2026-09-03T23:26:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/613618\/"},"modified":"2026-09-03T23:26:09","modified_gmt":"2026-09-03T23:26:09","slug":"wildman-this-screenplay-is-john-wick-meets-bigfoot","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/613618\/","title":{"rendered":"Wildman: This Screenplay Is John Wick&#8217; Meets Bigfoot"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tFor a great many years, spec scripts of a certain action nature were described as \u201cDie Hard but on a\u2026.\u201d In more recent years, spec scripts of a certain action nature have found themselves described as \u201cJohn Wick but with\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tWell, welcome to \u201cJohn Wick but with a Bigfoot.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tBadlands, the genre label run by Scott Strauss that is an arm of Wick franchise producers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/basil-iwanyk\/\" id=\"auto-tag_basil-iwanyk_1\" data-tag=\"basil-iwanyk\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Basil Iwanyk<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/erica-lee\/\" id=\"auto-tag_erica-lee_1\" data-tag=\"erica-lee\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Erica Lee<\/a> of Thunder Road, have acquired Wildman, a spec by budding writer Jacob Rainer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe logline says it all: When his little brother is killed by hunters,\u00a0Bigfoot\u00a0goes on a quest to retrieve the body while killing everyone responsible along the way.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tRainer is a Texas native who indulged in his Bigfoot obsession and decided to enter the horror screenplay contest on <a href=\"https:\/\/scriptshadow.net\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Scriptshadow.net<\/a>, a website dedicated to the craft of scriptwriting run by Carson Reeves (and who recently also had a hand in bringing to the fore the 190-page spec Ember Knight). As part of the contest, named Blood and Ink, Reeves highlighted scripts that caught his eye, Wildman being one them. That in turn caught the attention of manager Jake Wagner of Alibi Entertainment, who sought Reiner out.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThis is Rainer\u2019s first ever deal for screenwriting and Reeves is now attached to exec produce.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tBacked by Andrew Schwartzberg and Jon Shiffman\u2019s Renegade Capital, Badlands is gearing up for the release of its first feature\u00a0Crawlers. Directed by Angel Hernandez Gomez and starring Matilda Lutz, the spider invasion movie is due for release in the U.S. on Oct. 16 via Roadside Attractions and Saban Films.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe new indie genre label also has Gomez\u2019s horror movie\u00a0Dangerous Games to Play\u00a0and Hong Won-Ki\u2019s\u00a0Perfect Girl\u00a0in post.
