The artist formerly known<\/a> as Kanye West<\/a> came home<\/a> on Thursday \u2014 and he brought a longtime friend.<\/p>\n

At the first of two nights at Soldier Field in Chicago, Ye brought Twista<\/a> to the stage to perform their two best-known collaborations, \u201cOvernight Celebrity\u201d and \u201cSlow Jamz.\u201d<\/p>\n

The two tracks were some of Ye\u2019s earliest hits. \u201cOvernight Celebrity\u201d appeared on Twista\u2019s 2004 LP Kamikaze and, of course, \u201cSlow Jamz\u201d was a highlight of West\u2019s debut The College Dropout, released that same year. <\/p>\n

The joining of forces of what were then a rising star and a respected veteran, both from Chicago, received a great deal of notice at the time. There were rumors in that era that Twista was going to sign to Roc-a-fella, and he even got a Roc chain from Dame Dash<\/a>, but the deal was never finalized. <\/p>\n

Thursday\u2019s show marks the latest entry in Ye\u2019s globetrotting series of live performances in support of BULLY<\/a>, which launched at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 earlier this year. The tour, expectedly, hasn\u2019t been without controversy and cancellations<\/a>.<\/p>\n

For the official video for the Travis Scott<\/a>-featuring \u201cFather,\u201d director Bianca Censori<\/a>, Ye\u2019s wife, brought a UFO sighting to a church setting<\/a>. The performance artist<\/a> has since helmed videos for additional Ye tracks including \u201cKing,\u201d \u201cGemini Season,\u201d and \u201cOK.\u201d<\/p>\n

Prior to rolling out BULLY in its near-final form, Ye shared an extended letter in the form of a full-page Wall Street Journal ad<\/a>, stating that he\u2019s \u201cnot a Nazi or an antisemite\u201d despite past remarks and behavior.
