Speaking to E! News<\/a> on Thursday, September 3, 70-year-old Mandel revealed that at that point Cowell was \u201cjust hours out of surgery\u201d.<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cI heard that it was a success, everything\u2019s okay.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kenan Thompson filled in for Cowell on the talent show this week, with Heidi Klum set to take his place next week.<\/p>\n

Mandel joked that he hadn\u2019t yet spoken to Cowell because: \u201cI don’t know that, this close to surgery, if this is the first thing you need to see.\u201d<\/p>\n

The comedian added that he \u201ccan’t wait to see him and visit him and give him my best wishes.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cowell\u2019s injuries stopped him from appearing in the 2020 season<\/a> of Britain\u2019s Got Talent. He was temporarily replaced by the show\u2019s previous winner Ashley Banjo.<\/p>\n

After he recovered, Cowell said he was \u201clucky to survive\u201d the ordeal. He told OK!<\/a> magazine in 2022: \u201cI didn\u2019t talk about it too much at the time. I kept a lot back. It was a lot worse than people thought. I had a lot of long-term nerve damage as well.\u201d<\/p>\n

He admitted: \u201cIf there was one good thing about lockdown, it was that it gave me the time to heal because I wasn\u2019t working on a TV show. I was able to walk a lot and strengthen my legs.\u201d<\/p>\n

In 2022, the TV personality had another e-bike crash that saw him hospitalized with a broken arm<\/a>, badly bruised cheek and possible concussion. However, the injuries were not as serious as his first accident and he was released from the hospital that same day.<\/p>\n

Cowell is known for his brutally honest judging style <\/a>on reality competitions like AGT, The X Factor and American Idol. He is also hailed as a successful talent scout, <\/a>having put together massive acts like One Direction and Fifth Harmony.<\/p>\n

AGT\u2019s current season 21 marks Cowell\u2019s eleventh season as a judge on the show, although he has been an executive producer since the show\u2019s creation in 2006.<\/p>\n

Hosted by Terry Crews, the show usually features Cowell alongside fellow judges Sof\u00eda Vergara, Howie Mandel and Mel B.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Speaking to E!
