{"id":615677,"date":"2026-09-05T21:56:11","date_gmt":"2026-09-05T21:56:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/615677\/"},"modified":"2026-09-05T21:56:11","modified_gmt":"2026-09-05T21:56:11","slug":"man-dies-after-being-taken-from-the-water-in-donegal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/615677\/","title":{"rendered":"Man dies after being taken from the water in Donegal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A man has died after being taken from the water off Co Donegal.<\/p>\n<p>The man, who was in his 60s, was spotted by passers-by in the water at Ned&#8217;s Point near Buncrana.<\/p>\n<p>He was taken from the water at around 2.30pm by members of the public.<\/p>\n<p>The emergency services were called and numerous services including the garda\u00ed, the National Ambulance Service, the fire service and the Lough Swilly RNLI responded.<\/p>\n<p>Extensive attempts were made to resuscitate the man.<\/p>\n<p>However, he was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n<p>The man&#8217;s body was taken to Letterkenny University Hospital where a full postmortem examination will be carried out.<\/p>\n<p>The identity of the man, who is from the Buncrana area, has not yet been released.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A man has died after being taken from the water off Co Donegal.
