The Death of Robin Hood is in Irish cinemas now and gave Hugh Jackman the opportunity of spending a prolonged period of time in Ireland.<\/p>\n

The Irish film production industry is booming and one of the latest movies to join the long list of ones made here is The Death of Robin Hood.<\/p>\n

The film is written and directed by Michael Sarnoski, and stars Australian actor Hugh Jackman in the titular role.<\/p>\n

The duo joined John Fardy on ScreenTime<\/a> to discuss shooting on our shores, with the Wolverine star sharing how he found many spots that he would love to move to.<\/p>\n

He explained: “It was a dream.\u00a0I’d always wanted to go to Ireland\u00a0and spend an extended amount of time there, so as soon as I knew we were shooting in Ireland,\u00a0which was Mike’s choice, I was just thrilled.<\/p>\n

“It was incredible.\u00a0The crew were incredible. We were shooting on location, so we would just stay wherever close to the set\u00a0and just sort of hang out.<\/p>\n

“I just loved every second of it and I can’t wait to go back.\u00a0Everywhere I was, I was like, ‘I want to live there.\u00a0I want to live here.'”<\/p>\n

Director Mike added: “It’s beautiful and compact.\u00a0Everything we shot was about within an hour of Belfast. You get these bleak, Mourne Mountains,\u00a0this gorgeous north coast,\u00a0these old castles and churches and beautiful forests, and it was all accessible.<\/p>\n

“I don’t think we could have…\u00a0We scouted other places.\u00a0We scouted the highlands of Scotland. We scouted Lake District.\u00a0But none of these spots had everything we needed\u00a0within this little footprint.<\/p>\n

“For an indie movie that shot in 30 days,\u00a0we kind of needed that.\u00a0And then on top of that, these crews,\u00a0they kind of came up on Game of Thrones\u00a0and this is their bread and butter, and they just know how to do this.<\/p>\n

“They know how to, in February,\u00a0lug stuff up a mountain while it’s pouring rain\u00a0and have a smile on their face the whole time.\u00a0It was lovely.<\/p>\n

I lived there for a year.\u00a0We edited it just outside of Belfast as well, and it was one of the best years of my life. I loved it.”<\/p>\n
