Ireland has a new millionaire after one lucky Lotto<\/a> player bagged a life-changing seven-figure prize in Saturday night’s draw.<\/p>\n Last night’s Lotto draw marked the start of a new era for the National Lottery<\/a>.<\/p>\n Saturday’s Lotto and Lotto Plus games marked the first draw since the official retirement of Lotto balls 46 and 47<\/a>, with the National Lottery celebrating the first draw of the refreshed Lotto format with a special Guaranteed Millionaire event<\/a>.<\/p>\n The Lotto Plus Raffle typically sees between 60 and 120 winners of \u20ac500 in every draw but for Saturday\u2019s draw (September 5), the National Lottery added a guaranteed-to-be-won \u20ac1 million to the Lotto Plus Raffle prize fund.<\/p>\n Every ticket, which includes Plus, that won a prize on either of the Lotto Plus One or Lotto Plus Two draws on Saturday night was in with a chance of winning the life-changing additional prize.<\/p>\n One ticket was then be selected to win a guaranteed \u20ac1 million, in addition to their original prize amount.<\/p>\n Buoy 46 & 47! The National Lottery made a splash in the River Liffey today with The Winnies as the two retired Lotto balls embarked on their farewell journey following their final draw on Wednesday night.(Image: Brian McEvoy)<\/p>\n The National Lottery has now revealed that the special Lotto Plus top-up prize of \u20ac1 million was won by a lucky player in Co Clare<\/a>, who purchased their winning ticket at Spar in Lisdoonvarna.<\/p>\n Shop owner Megan White was delighted to hear about the win, especially with it coming at such an important time of year for Lisdoonvarna: \u201cWhat a weekend to become a Lisdoonvarna Lotto winner!<\/p>\n “It\u2019s the first week of the famous match-making festival which the entire community gets involved with.<\/p>\n “There\u2019s a great buzz already amongst the town as the festivities get underway, both with customers and surrounding businesses, and this news is sure to add even more.<\/p>\n “We wish the winner all the very best with their win and hopefully they check their ticket soon!\u201d<\/p>\n The Clare ticketholder wasn’t the only player to win big in Saturday’s draw, as two punters in in Kilkenny<\/a> and Limerick<\/a> matched five numbers plus the bonus in the main Lotto to win \u20ac40,215 each.<\/p>\n Lotto chiefs have confirmed the winning Quick Pick tickets were both purchased on the day of the draw.<\/p>\n The Kilkenny winner scooped their \u20ac40,215 amount after purchasing their ticket at M&A Supermarkets on the Main Street in Mooncoin. The Limerick Match 5+Bonus winner purchased their ticket at SuperValu Limerick in the Castletroy Shopping Centre in Castletroy.<\/p>\n The numbers called in Saturday’s main Lotto draw were 8, 11, 15, 21, 33, 44 and the Bonus number was 14.<\/p>\n And that’s not all, as a further 43 players won special top-up prizes of \u20ac10,092 each.<\/p>\n Lotto bosses are now urging all players, particularly those in the Lisdoonvarna area, to carefully check their tickets today.
