Her father Pete, the man who first put gloves on her hands, was there to celebrate with her at the end, a decade on from a family rift that once looked beyond repair.<\/p>\n

That reconciliation has quietly become one of the warmer subplots of Taylor\u2019s farewell. And with it, fresh attention has fallen on the woman at the centre of the family story, Pete\u2019s wife, Karen Brown. <\/p>\n

Here is what is known about her.<\/p>\n

A low-key wedding<\/p>\n

Pete and Karen married in a quiet ceremony on the Spanish island of Majorca in the summer of 2022. <\/p>\n

There was no lavish celebrity showpiece, just an intimate gathering abroad with family and close friends. Pete was 58 at the time, with Karen 26 years his junior.<\/p>\n

The couple had been together for several years before marrying, having first been publicly linked in 2017<\/a>. The age gap drew comment at the time, something Pete has since addressed directly and with some frustration.<\/p>\n

Pete sets the record straight<\/p>\n

Speaking last year, Pete pushed back on the narrative<\/a> that had built up around the relationship. He recalled people saying he had \u2018ran off with Katie\u2019s best friend\u2019, a characterisation he was keen to correct. <\/p>\n

Pete said it \u2018killed\u2019 him when Katie cut contact, recalling the moment she came to him at the boxing club and told him she did not want him in her corner any more.<\/p>\n

A businesswoman in her own right<\/p>\n

Long before she met Pete, Karen had made a name for herself as an ambitious young entrepreneur. <\/p>\n

She built a business career in her twenties, launching her own tanning brand, Karora, around 2011. <\/p>\n

The products were sold around the country and she became a familiar face in the media as a self-styled tanning expert, even handling the tan for a number of beauty pageants.<\/p>\n

When she and Pete got together, the pair went into business as well, setting up KO Fit Food Co in his adopted home town of Bray, Co Wicklow. <\/p>\n

The boxing-themed caf\u00e9 specialised in low-fat, high-protein meals aimed at the fitness crowd and, like many independent food ventures, proved short-lived. But it summed up the couple\u2019s shared world.<\/p>\n

A boxing man<\/p>\n

Originally from the north of England, Pete Taylor moved to Bray as a young man to work with his father on the seafront amusements, and went on to be crowned Irish light heavyweight champion in 1986.<\/p>\n

It was as a coach that he made his greatest mark, training his daughter from childhood and famously guiding her to Olympic gold at London 2012. He stepped away from her team in 2015 as his marriage to Katie\u2019s mother Bridget broke down, and the pair were estranged for several years afterwards.<\/p>\n

Happily, that chapter now appears closed. Katie and Pete were reunited before her third fight with Amanda Serrano last year, with the boxer describing the process using one word: restoration. <\/p>\n
