The photos show \u201cchanges in lighting technology\u201d from 2012 to 2025.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe city grid really pops!\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/astro_Pettit\/status\/2095901034908389679?s=20\" rel=\"Follow nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Pettit said in the post.<\/a> \u201cThis LED takeover of city lighting is worldwide.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Many major cities are switching to LED lights, as it offers \u201cthe potential for cutting general lighting energy use nearly in half by 2030, improving resiliency of the grid, and saving energy dollars in the process,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.energy.gov\/cmei\/ssl\/led-basics\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">according to the U.S. Department of Energy.<\/a> LED lights have \u201ccompact size, long life, resistance to breakage and vibration, good performance in cold temperatures, lack of infrared or ultraviolet emissions and instant-on performance.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>                                          <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"responsive-image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/HRYk-L2bIAEFxRJ.jpg\"   width=\"1200\" height=\"1676\" title=\"HRYk-L2bIAEFxRJ.jpg\" alt=\"A photograph of Miami lit by sodium vapor in 2012 taken from the International Space Station.\"\/>                                                                                    A photograph of Miami lit by sodium vapor in 2012 taken from the International Space Station.
