Jodie Comer has had an impressive career spanning almost two decades, with roles in TV, film, theatre and even audio projects. Her latest film sees her starring opposite Hugh Jackman in Michael Sarnoski’s The Death of Robin Hood.<\/p>\n

Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy, the actor reflected on how she chooses her roles and explained her desire to seek out new challenges. She shared the importance of working with “confident” filmmakers, whose creative visions make the process more “fulfilling”.<\/p>\n

“I’m always looking for some sort of challenge or the opportunity to explore something different,” she said. “But I also think more and more so, it’s filmmakers, working with people like Michael [Sarnoski], filmmakers who have a strong integrity, intuition, class, style. <\/p>\n

“To get to work with a filmmaker who is that confident and the execution is so clear and distinct, that to me is becoming more and more important, I feel, because you realise that you really are in service of a much bigger picture.”<\/p>\n

“The more that all those elements are kind of singing, the more exciting it is and fulfilling it is when you get to watch the final project,” she added.<\/p>\n

The Death of Robin Hood is based on the 17th century ballad Robin Hood’s Death. It centres around the later life of the notorious outlaw (Jackman), who is severely injured in battle.<\/p>\n

Comer plays Sister Brigid, a prioress of a rural nunnery, who helps Robin recover as he reflects on his brutal legacy. The drama sees Robin seeking atonement for his dark past, and the sins he committed in his youth.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Comer is also set to star in Stuffed, which will have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on Thursday (10 September). The musical body horror follows the unique love story of man who volunteers his corpse to a taxidermist in the event of his death.<\/p>\n

Similarly to The Death of Robin Hood, Comer’s involvement in the project was partly due to her faith in writer-director Theo Rhys, and she shared that his clear vision made her feel confident. <\/p>\n

“I did feel that with Theo [Rhys] with Stuffed actually,” she reflected. “Stuffed was adapted from a short film that he did so this is his first feature, but when I watched the short I was like, ‘Oh, you know he knows.'”<\/p>\n
