\n\tGary Oldman<\/a> is cheering on his Slow Horses<\/a> co-star Jack Lowden<\/a> in the 007 race.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe beloved British actor, who has starred alongside Lowden in the Apple series since 2022, spoke in an interview with Canada\u2019s The Morning Show about the upcoming James Bond<\/a> films, telling the program that the new incarnation of Ian Fleming\u2019s spy has already been selected.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s been rumored that [Lowden] is on the shortlist,\u201d said Oldman. \u201cWe\u2019re going to find out pretty soon, aren\u2019t we? Because they have picked him. They have made their choice, but they have not announced it yet. So my fingers are crossed for Jack.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIt remains to be seen whether Oldman is simply going off a hunch or his widespread industry connections have provided him with some solid intel. The Hollywood Reporter has reached out to reps at Amazon MGM Studios<\/a> for comment.<\/p>\n

\n\tDenis Villeneuve is set to direct the upcoming Bond film, with\u00a0Peaky Blinders\u00a0mastermind Steven Knight penning the script.<\/p>\n

\n\tReports have continued to swirl around who might next don the spy\u2019s tuxedo. Callum Turner, Jacob Elordi, Tom Holland, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Harris Dickinson and Lowden are among some of the more high-profile names to have been floated, but Amazon<\/a> has refused to confirm any casting decisions just yet. (The studio struck a deal with longtime franchise stewards Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson to take full control of the character and its IP in February 2025.)<\/p>\n

\n\tJust last month, Lowden\u2019s wife and mother of his child, Saoirse Ronan said she was \u201cdead serious\u201d about playing a James Bond villain<\/a>. \u201cI want to go dark,\u201d the star of\u00a0Little Women\u00a0and\u00a0Lady Bird\u00a0told Empire while promoting her latest feature,\u00a0Bad Apples. \u201cI said that I wanted to be a Bond villain and I\u2019m dead serious,\u201d she added. \u201cI think it would be really interesting, having a young female villain. Especially for girls and women, to see someone who can just take all that pent-up anger and direct it somewhere, there\u2019s something interesting in that dramatically. So I would love to do more of that.\u201d<\/p>\n
