ROCHESTER \u2014 This house on Plummer Circle is just a short walk away from the renowned Plummer House \u2014 and it comes with a backyard wood-burning pizza oven and a front yard bocce ball court.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat\u2019s really cool is nobody else has a house like this,\u201d Realtor Adam Howell said. \u201cIt\u2019s not cookie-cutter. It\u2019s unique to itself.\u201d<\/p>\n

The over 5200-square-foot, five-bedroom, four-bathroom home, located at 1118 Plummer Cir. SW, was built in 1941 for Mayo Clinic ophthalmologist H. L. Bair. The Colonial Revival-style house was designed by architect R.W. Dwyer out of Wisconsin.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019re kind of living in a little piece of history from that part, that era, you know?\u201d owner Tobias Kummer, 49, said. \u201cI think that\u2019s pretty cool and pretty unique.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s definitely the most unique place I\u2019ve ever lived in,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Kummer has lived in the house with his family since 2020. One of the features of the house that he used a lot was the pizza oven, put in by the previous owner.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt does take a little skill to get it started,\u201d he said about the oven. \u201cBut then pizzas are done in like 60 or like 45 seconds or something like that. It goes to 700 degrees.\u201d<\/p>\n

Some other features of the house are byproducts of its 1940s build date \u2014 like the saddle hooks in the basement.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot that I use that, but I put my skis on there,\u201d Kummer said. \u201cIt was perfect for skis as well.\u201d<\/p>\n

The primary bedroom also has a dressing area attached in a separate room, meant for workers who might be on call late at night.<\/p>\n

The house is now <\/p>\n

listed for sale at $950,000.<\/a><\/p>\n

Howell said it will take a special type of person to buy the house \u2014 one who appreciates older houses, especially.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey like the quirks that are going to come along with that,\u201d Howell said. \u201cIt\u2019s also gonna be somebody that understands that these homes take maintenance. There\u2019s constant things that have to be done to them, but there\u2019s a payoff for it.\u201d<\/p>\n

One of the biggest renovations Kummer had done to the house was opening up the kitchen. He tore out many of the built-ins to make more space for socializing.<\/p>\n

Now the kitchen has space for a coffee bar, drink fridge and having multiple people in the kitchen while prepping food.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe old kitchen wasn\u2019t really meant for that,\u201d Kummer said. \u201cNow you can sit there, and when somebody\u2019s preparing food, somebody can sit there at the counter.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it made it a lot more functional,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Another quirk of the house is its ample storage space. Kummer said that the entire time he was living there, he was still finding space to store his items.<\/p>\n

The room Kummer said he will miss the most was his office space on the first floor, which was lined with bookcases built into the walls.<\/p>\n

Kummer also said he will miss the tight-knit community on Plummer Lane and Circle. He said each year, the neighborhood has annual parties at the Plummer House. It is easy to meet neighbors day-to-day, too.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you just want to walk the dog, you can just walk the circle and then you meet people,\u201d he said. \u201cSo I think it\u2019s a pretty special community.\u201d<\/p>\n
