{"id":617641,"date":"2026-09-07T23:08:10","date_gmt":"2026-09-07T23:08:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/617641\/"},"modified":"2026-09-07T23:08:10","modified_gmt":"2026-09-07T23:08:10","slug":"transformer-on-fire-as-2000-without-power-in-east-donegal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/617641\/","title":{"rendered":"Transformer on fire as 2,000 without power in East Donegal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Almost 2,000 homes and businesses in east Donegal were left without power this evening.<\/p>\n<p>A series of outages were reported between Lifford and Newtowncunninhgham with an ESB transformer reported to have been on fire in the Ballindrait area.<\/p>\n<p>A total of 1,978 ESB customers were without electricity.<\/p>\n<p>Power has been restored to nearly 400, but the remainder are still in the dark.<\/p>\n<p>A total of 1,017 customers were affected in the Newtowncunningham, Carrigans and St Johnston areas with the others connected to the Rossgeir line.<\/p>\n<p>The ESB has apologised for the loss of supply and say that their repair crews are working to repair the issue as quickly as possible.<\/p>\n<p>Customers have been advised that power could be out until around 10pm.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Almost 2,000 homes and businesses in east Donegal were left without power this evening.
