A young Lifford woman has been called to the Bar.<\/p>\n
Alvena Sharma has been called to the Bar of Northern Ireland this week after\u00a0completed the Pilot Bar of Ireland Internship in Dublin in July 2025.<\/p>\n
The daughter of Angelie Sharma, Alvena is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin where she studied law.\u00a0<\/p>\n
She was admitted to the Institute of Professional Legal Studies last year and has now been called to the Bar of Northern Ireland.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Last year, she completed the internship which offered a unique opportunity for participants to gain firsthand insight into the life and work of a barrister.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Interns engaged in job shadowing with both civil and criminal barristers, attended talks by junior and senior counsel, former judicial assistants, and a High Court judge.<\/p>\n
They also benefited from guided tours of the Four Courts and participated in workshops on advocacy, IT, and legal research.<\/p>\n
The selection process included each university or institution that runs an approved course for the King\u2019s Inns Barrister-at-Law Degree being invited to submit two nominations.\u00a0<\/p>\n
These nominees were then invited to complete an application form. There were a total of 32 nominations and applications were selected by University Outreach Committee at The Bar of Ireland.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A young Lifford woman has been called to the Bar.
