\n\tJustin Timberlake<\/a> is looking back on one of the most transformative albums of his career.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe pop star celebrated the 20th anniversary of his sophomore solo album, FutureSex\/LoveSounds, on Tuesday (Sept. 8) with an Instagram<\/a> carousel featuring two photos: one of Timberlake shattering a disco ball with a mallet (presumably from the original album photo shoot), as well as the album\u2019s track listing. There is also an archival video of a young Timberlake sitting between both photos in the carousel. The singer captioned the post simply, \u201cLife changing. THANK YOU.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIn the brief video, Timberlake appears to tease the project\u2019s significance, saying, \u201cBig disclaimer. This is not what you\u2019re used to.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tReleased on Sept. 8, 2006, FutureSex\/LoveSounds was a major sonic shift for the singer following his 2002 solo debut, Justified. The album, largely produced with Timbaland<\/a> and Danja, leaned into electronic, funk, R&B and pop influences while establishing a more experimental sound for the former *NSYNC member.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe album also made lots of noise on the Billboard charts. FutureSex\/LoveSounds debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200<\/a>, giving Timberlake his first solo leader on the chart. The record\u2019s lead single, \u201cSexyBack,\u201d likewise became Timberlake\u2019s first solo Billboard Hot 100<\/a> No. 1, spending seven weeks atop the chart. \u201cMy Love\u201d and \u201cWhat Goes Around\u2026Comes Around\u201d followed, giving the album three consecutive Hot 100 No. 1s.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe album was nominated for album of the year and best pop vocal album at the 2007 Grammy Awards. Four tracks from the album won Grammys over the course of two years: \u201cSexyBack\u201d and \u201cLoveStoned\/I Think She Knows,\u201d both for best dance\/electronic recording; \u201cMy Love\u201d for best melodic rap performance; and \u201cWhat Goes Around\u2026Comes Around\u201d for best male pop vocal performance. The latter track was also nominated for record of the year at the 2008 ceremony.<\/p>\n
