\n\tWarner Bros. Pictures has released the first look at M. Night Shyamalan\u00a0and Nicholas Sparks<\/a>\u2018 collaboration, Remain<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn the trailer, released Tuesday, Jake Gyllenhaal<\/a> stars as a reclusive architect who moves to a small coastal town to complete his latest project. While there, \u201che encounters an alluring young woman (Phoebe Dynevor<\/a>) who pulls him out of his shell, and into the center of a deadly mystery that hangs over the town.\u201c<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cYou\u2018re not like anybody i\u2018ve ever met,\u201d Gyllenhaal\u2018s Tate tells Dynevor\u2018s Wren in the trailer as the two are shown having fun while playing board games and falling in love in the home Gyllenhaal\u2018s Tate is staying in. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWhy can\u2018t we be together, Tate?\u201d Dynevor\u2018s Wren asks before the trailer cuts to a darker secret reality the potential couple face.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cTrust the unknown,\u201d the trailer teases. <\/p>\n

\n\tShyamalan directs from his own screenplay, with the story a collaboration between Shyamalan and Sparks. The film is produced by Shyamalan, Ashwin Rajan, Marc Bienstock and Theresa Park, with Sparks executive producing.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cLong time ago, when we had the original script of\u00a0The Notebook\u00a0that was written by Jan Sardi, the studio and I decided, \u2018Hey, we\u2019re going to get another writer, and we\u2019re going to start from scratch. He\u2019s going to revise it to the way we want it.\u2019 One of the writers we went to was a young, largely unknown screenwriter. His name was M. Night Shyamalan,\u201d Sparks told\u00a0The Hollywood Reporter.<\/a><\/p>\n

\n\tHowever, years later Sparks and Shyamalan met again with the hopes of joining forces on a project. When the author known for delivering epic love stories and the filmmaker always up for a twist teamed up, they came up with a story that both were interested in telling in their respective mediums. That original story ended up becoming\u00a0Remain<\/a>, also released as a novel last October.<\/p>\n

\n\tSparks praised Gyllenhaal and Dynevor for their take on the upcoming love story. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWhen you start going through people who\u2019ve been in my films, I\u2019ve covered a lot of the big [names] \u2026 Channing Tatum, Ryan Gosling, Zac Efron \u2026 We\u2019re running out of big name stars here especially for certain age groups.\u00a0(Laughs.)\u00a0Jake was great! It was really magical the way that came on board,\u201c Sparks told THR. \u201d When it came to Phoebe, Phoebe was one of three we were debating. She was terrific. They\u2019re both amazing performers and they both did great, great work.\u201c<\/p>\n
