Emmerdale\u2019s Joe Tate spirals next week and bans Dawn Fletcher\u2019s kids from her funeral, as he plots to avenge her death!<\/p>\n

Committed to punishing Billy for his involvement in the tragedy, Joe demands a private ceremony to lay Dawn to rest. Although he later relents on his funeral plans, it\u2019s clear he\u2019s set on a path of destruction<\/a>, wanting someone to pay for his beloved fianc\u00e9e\u2019s death… <\/p>\n

“Joe is lost in a storm of vengeance and rage,” says Ned Porteous, who plays the grief-stricken widower. “Dawn was the one thing truly tethering Joe to a life leading toward moral good. He won’t improve for himself, but he would have done it for her. He’s lost his anchor.”<\/p>\n

As the crash investigation continues, Kim is heartbroken to hear that Joe wants a completely private funeral for Dawn<\/a>. And when Billy confronts him, demanding to know why the children aren\u2019t invited, Joe\u2019s cold response leaves Billy bereft.<\/p>\n

“Joe’s feeling extremely protective,” explains Ned. “He\u2019s feeling like his way of controlling the situation is to remove the outsiders \u2013 to have this whole experience by himself, where nothing more can go wrong.”<\/p>\n

With so many locals still harbouring guilt over the crash, upset Billy lashes out, and blames Ruby for the brutal funeral ban. Heading up to Home Farm, Ruby pleads with Joe to change his mind \u2013 but her words fall on deaf ears as he continues to accuse her of causing Dawn\u2019s demise<\/a>…<\/p>\n

“Ruby represents the enemy in Joe\u2019s mind,” admits Ned. “Even if she’s speaking sense, he\u2019s too angry to hear any guidance. Even Kim and Graham are making valid points<\/a>, but it\u2019s the last thing Joe wants to hear. It\u2019s shining a light on his failures.”<\/p>\n

After Joe delivers a chilling threat to Ruby, there\u2019s just one person left who could help him see sense. Clemmie appeals to Joe\u2019s better nature, begging him for the chance to say goodbye to her mum for the last time, and eventually he agrees. But it isn\u2019t the turning point his family is hoping for\u2026<\/p>\n

Graham is left feeling optimistic after Joe\u2019s change of heart, but soon the grieving dad drops a new bombshell.<\/p>\n

He hasn\u2019t done any healing or accepted the tragic situation, but instead he\u2019s plotting the ultimate revenge against those villagers he holds responsible for Dawn\u2019s tragic death \u00ad\u2013 and he wants a big favour from Graham!<\/p>\n

“Joe blames anyone who came into contact with Dawn,” reveals Ned. “He\u2019s not thinking rationally and he\u2019s ready to dish out blame to anyone who won\u2019t join in his rage. There’ll be bad blood for a while yet. Joe\u2019s not one to drop a grudge\u2026”<\/p>\n
