\n\tAlanis Morissette<\/a> is getting into the holiday spirit a bit early, and she\u2019s bringing Martin Short<\/a> along for the sleigh ride.<\/p>\n

\n\tDuring a new appearance on Call Her Daddy with Alex Cooper<\/a>, Morissette shared that she and Short are teaming up for a song on her upcoming holiday album. The pair will perform a rendition of a Judy Garland<\/a> classic, making this collaboration an unexpected one between the \u201cYou Oughta Know\u201d singer and the comic actor.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThere\u2019s a Judy Garland song that Martin Short and I are going to do,\u201d Morissette told Cooper when asked about her favorite track on the forthcoming project. She also named \u201cWhat Child Is This\u201d and \u201cLittle Drummer Boy\u201d as some of her favorite songs to sing on the album.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe collaboration is part of Morissette\u2019s first holiday album, which grew out of a tradition she started in recent years. The singer explained that she had been recording a holiday song each Christmas, and eventually she realized she had accumulated enough songs to turn it into a collection of a full-length record.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cEvery Christmas over the last few years, we\u2019ve done sort of one song,\u201d she said. \u201cI love singing these songs. I wrote a couple of new songs and we just made a record.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe album will also feature new original songs including \u201cTo an Empathic Christmas Time\u201d and \u201cChristmas on the Dance Floor.\u201d Morissette described the project as a \u201clabor of Christmas love,\u201d adding that her enthusiasm for the holiday has only grown since her son Ever was born on Christmas Day.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe holiday album isn\u2019t the only thing Morissette teased during the conversation. The singer is also preparing for her new Los Angeles residency, Butterfly With a Machete, which begins in November. The show will blend music with storytelling and reflections from her life, including her experiences with menopause and aging.<\/p>\n

\n\tMorissette explained that the show is partly inspired by the idea of rejecting expectation that women should \u201cstay in your lane.\u201d Instead, she wants the residency to embrace the different sides of herself, incorporating music, comedy, dance, movement, visuals, and storytelling.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s about me grappling with the too muchness,\u201d she said, describing the project as an opportunity to tell stories she once didn\u2019t feel mattered.<\/p>\n
