\n\tDoomsday typically indicates disaster, but for Marvel Studios<\/a> that term is forecasting a booming box office.<\/p>\n

\n\tDisney reports that the next entry in the sprawling Marvel Cinematic Universe, \u201cAvengers: Doomsday<\/a>,\u201d has already made $50 million in domestic pre-sales, three months before the movie\u2019s Dec. 18 release date. The studio reported that more than 70% of those pre-sales are for Infinity Vision tickets, emphasizing the audience\u2019s appetite for premium large format screens. \u201cInfinity Vision\u201d is a new certification for premium large format theaters, which Disney unveiled at CinemaCon, touted as delivering \u201cthe biggest, brightest and most immersive cinematic experiences\u201d for moviegoers.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe pre-sale figures for \u201cDoomsday\u201d were announced Wednesday by Walt Disney Company senior executive VP & Chief Financial Officer, Hugh Johnston, at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia + Technology Conference.<\/p>\n

\n\tDirected by Anthony and Joe Russo, the movie sees a massive assembly of Marvel superheroes, including the Avengers, Fantastic Four, Thunderbolts and the original X-Men, teaming up to face their most formidable foe yet: Victor Von Doom. Robert Downey Jr. returns to play the MCU\u2019s new Big Bad after Tony Stark\/Iron Man\u2019s death at the end of \u201cAvengers: Endgame.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIn addition to Downey Jr. returning, Chris Evans is back as Steve Rogers\/Captain America after he traveled back in time and stepped away from his superhero duties in \u201cEndgame.\u201d Chris Hemsworth also reprises his role as Thor, alongside Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Letitia Wright as Black Panther, Sebastian Stan as the Winter Soldier, Tom Hiddleston as Loki and Simu Liu as Shang-Chi.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cDoomsday\u201d also marks the official MCU debut for several of Fox\u2019s past \u201cX-Men\u201d stars after Disney acquired the studio. Patrick Stewart is back as Charles Xavier, Ian McKellen is Magneto, James Marsden is Cyclops, Kelsey Grammer is Beast, Rebecca Romijn is Mystique, Alan Cumming is Nightcrawler and Channing Tatum is Gambit.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe \u201cFantastic Four: First Steps\u201d stars, comprised of Pedro Pascal as Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as the Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Human Torch and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as the Thing are back for \u201cDoomsday,\u201d as are the \u201cThunderbolts\u201d cast, including Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Lewis Pullman as Sentry, Wyatt Russell as U.S. Agent and Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost.<\/p>\n

\n\tAhead of the film\u2019s release, Marvel has also launched \u201cCountdown to <\/a>\u2018Avengers: Doomsday<\/a>\u2018 Official Podcast.\u201d<\/a> The podcast covers five films from the Infinity Saga: \u201cThe Avengers\u201d (the subject of the podcast\u2019s Aug. 27 debut episode); \u201cAvengers: Age of Ultron\u201d (Sept. 3); \u201cCaptain America: Civil War\u201d (Sept. 10); \u201cAvengers: Infinity War\u201d (Sept. 17); and \u201cAvengers: Endgame\u201d (Sept. 24). All five films are available to stream on Disney+.
