Don\u2019t get me wrong, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/apple\/775186\/apple-iphone-17-pro-cosmic-orange-color-good\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">they looked nice<\/a>. But there was no black (or dark gray) for the first time since the start of the iPhone Pro lineup, which Apple first introduced in September 2019 with the iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">I care about this because I always buy the black phone. I learned my lesson with the iPhone 6: I got it in gold to mix things up and came to regret it. I don\u2019t need something flashy \u2014 I need a phone that blends into the background and looks decent in whatever case I throw it into. After the iPhone 6, my next phone was the iPhone 7 in the excellent matte black (I wasn\u2019t brave enough to endure the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/circuitbreaker\/2016\/9\/20\/12985890\/iphone-7-jet-black-scratches\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">jet black model\u2019s potential scratches<\/a>), and I\u2019ve only ever gotten the black or gray phones since.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">My black titanium iPhone 16 Pro in a black Torras case (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/tech\/983375\/fairphone-6-plus-framework-12-laptop-mutiny-mortal-shell-2\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">with a mostly black homescreen<\/a>) still works very well, thank you very much, and I\u2019m not in the market for a new phone. But when I make my annual mid-September visit to the local Apple Store to look at all the new iPhones, I won\u2019t be rushing to see the iPhone 18 Pro in burgundy, blue, or silver. I\u2019ll be beelining for the model in black.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">Just look at this thing!
