Muse<\/a> have had to change their social media handles to make way for Meta\u2019s new AI<\/a> tool.<\/p>\n

The Devon rock icons changed their handle on X\/Twitter and Instagram from @Muse<\/a> to @Musetheband<\/a>, allowing Meta\u2019s new AI tool, also called Muse, to take on their former usernames. The initial change earlier this summer caused much confusion and discussion among fans online, given the ease and convenience of their original social media domains that they\u2019ve had for years.<\/p>\n

The AI assistant, which was rolled out in the United States this week, is designed to assist users with everyday tasks including responding to emails, making schedules, and converting long-term goals into action plans.<\/p>\n

Some fans have pointed out the irony of the switch, given Matt Bellamy<\/a>\u2018s penchant for dystopian lyrics, with their albums \u2018Simulation Theory<\/a>\u2018 and \u2018Drones<\/a>\u2018 including references to algorithms and technology taking over.<\/p>\n

\u2018Algorithm\u2019, the opening track from 2018\u2019s \u2018Simulation Theory\u2019 sees Bellamy sing: \u201cBurn like a slave\/Churn like a cog\/We are caged in simulations\/Algorithms evolve\/Push us aside and render us obsolete.\u201d<\/p>\n

Muse have not commented publicly on the change in username. NME has approached the band for a response.<\/p>\n

NME\u00a0gave Muse\u2019s latest album \u2018The Wow! Signal\u2019 four stars<\/a>, noting: \u201cIn rekindling their own purpose, the Teignmouth trio have delivered undoubtedly their most consistent and satisfying album since \u2018Black Holes & Revelations\u2019 \u2013 doubling up as either a knowing gift to the fans or at least a response to any concerns that Muse had long disappeared too far up their own supermassive blackholes. Look up to the sky with a sigh of relief or a simple \u2018wow\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bellamy also recently told\u00a0<\/a>NME\u00a0that the album found him leaning into \u201cthe unknown\u201d after a difficult personal period and split from his wife, saying: \u201cI can\u2019t live without music \u2013 that feeling came back to me on this album.\u201d<\/p>\n

The interview also saw Bellamy\u00a0look back on the \u201900s guitar rock scene<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0share plans for \u201cbuilding a spaceship<\/a>\u201d for their upcoming UK and European arena tour.<\/p>\n
