While Tutima<\/a> gained popularity thanks to its purposeful pilot watches<\/a>, aviation-themed chronographs<\/a> and robust adventure-driven collections<\/a>, one of the brand\u2019s lineups certainly stands apart from the rest and shouldn\u2019t go unnoticed. A tribute to the German school of watchmaking and the manufacture\u2019s\u00a0roots, the Patria collection celebrates\u00a0classic designs and in-house watchmaking, done the Glash\u00fctte way. Elegant, restrained and discreetly luxurious, the Patria Small Seconds<\/a> has evolved over the years with more accessible versions<\/a> and more technical materials, such as titanium<\/a>. This lightweight alloy comes back now, with an elegant version equipped with a silvery-white dial and gold accents. Dressy yet made for everyday\u00a0use.\u00a0<\/p>\n

As said, the Patria collection by Tutima is fairly different from the rest of the brand\u2019s portfolio, mostly composed of robust chronographs, pilot\u2019s watches and diving instruments. With Patria, the brand looks at its origins and classic watchmaking as done where the brand is headquartered, in Glash\u00fctte, Germany. Refined, elegant, luxurious and equipped with in-house-developed movements finished the traditional way, the collection has comprised several complex watches such as the Tempostopp chronograph<\/a>, the Power Reserve<\/a> or the Dual Time models<\/a>. Yet, the most appealing version could well be the most essential one, the Small Seconds, a watch that\u2019s been available in multiple versions so far: classic gold and silver<\/a>, steel<\/a> or even titanium, with a fresh light blue dial<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The new version of the Patria Small Seconds introduced recently by Tutima is a far more classic combination of white metal with a silvery-white dial, accented by gold elements. That said, it adds a touch of technicality and comfort thanks to a case made from grade 5 titanium. Fully polished and equipped with crown guards on the right side, the case measures 41mm in diameter and 11.2mm in thickness, maybe a bit large for a dress watch and a 38mm edition would be more than welcome\u2026<\/p>\n

New for this year is the dial, which comes with a classic silvery-white tone, paired with an embossed \u201cclou de Paris\u201d pattern. Completing this refined attire are hands that are made from solid 18k gold, polished by hand with bevelled edges and satin-finished sides. The diamond-cut hour markers and the applied logo also get the same warm tone, being coated in gold, and the small seconds counter, with its circular grooved pattern, is also framed in gold.<\/p>\n

Turn the watch over, and you\u2019ll see a handsome movement: the hand-wound calibre Tutima 617. This in-house engine is classically German, with its gold-toned three-quarter plate with ribbing, and 3 screwed gold chatons. The ratchet and crown wheels feature sunburst finishes, while the recoiling click mechanism is fitted with an elegantly curved steel spring. The open-worked balance cock provides an unobstructed view of the in-house free-sprung oscillation system, with a screw balance and hairspring with a Breguet overcoil. This nicely finished movement runs at a 3Hz frequency and stores a comfortable 65-hour power reserve.<\/p>\n
