Elon Musk has issued an angry tirade at the film-maker behind a four-hour documentary about his life and influence, labelling the director Alex Gibney<\/a> a \u201cbitter old man\u201d who has \u201czero integrity\u201d.<\/p>\n

Gibney, who has previously made films about the collapse of Enron, WikiLeaks and Vladimir Putin, premiered his Musk documentary at the Venice film festival this week. He said he believed the world\u2019s richest man was \u201cextremely dangerous\u201d<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In a series of posts on X, which Musk bought for $44bn in 2022<\/a>, the tech mogul railed against the film as a \u201chit piece that misses\u201d, adding its four-hour length also made the documentary, which is highly critical of Musk, \u201cas boring af\u201d.<\/p>\n

Musk also appeared to push at conspiracy theory, reposting an image<\/a> depicting the Democratic party as a puppet, controlling another puppet labelled \u201cTeam Soros\u201d \u2013 a reference to the billionaire George Soros, who has supported progressive causes.<\/p>\n

That puppet in turn controls another labelled \u201cAlex Gibney\u201d, while the Gibney puppet controls another labelled \u201cHollywood\u201d. In response to the picture, Musk stated: \u201cAccurate.\u201d<\/p>\n

In response to a supporter who said he had never heard of Gibney until his Musk film, Musk replied: \u201cIt\u2019s a psy op\u201d \u2013 a reference to a planned \u201cpsychological operation\u201d designed to influence the public\u2019s thoughts.<\/p>\n

\u201cGibney has zero integrity. Zero,\u201d said Musk. \u201cFortunately, his movies are boring af \u2026 It\u2019s a hit piece that misses, and makes the fatal sin of being boring for 4 hours.<\/p>\n

\u201cGibney just assembled a hit list of people who either have an axe to grind or don\u2019t even know me (but still have an axe to grind) \u2026 He\u2019s a bitter old man who lost the plot long ago.<\/p>\n

\u201cDogshit is worth more respect than Gibney.\u201d<\/p>\n

The documentary has caused stirs since its premier, as have the claims made by some of those involved in the film.<\/p>\n

Musk specifically denied a claim made by his ex-partner, the former Maga influencer Ashley St Clair, that his team offered her $40m to sign a non-disclosure agreement about their time together. \u201cShe was never offered that and has a history of making false claims,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n

Musk also amplified a post by the podcaster Katie Miller, the wife of Donald Trump\u2019s powerful adviser Stephen Miller and former communications director for Musk\u2019s Department of Government Efficiency<\/a>. Miller complained about the alleged absence of Musk acquaintances and allies in the film.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt simply can\u2019t be \u2018definitive\u2019 if the people who were present didn\u2019t participate,\u201d she said. \u201cThis fictional movie is a hit job by a self-obsessed Hollywood director.\u201d<\/p>\n

Musk\u2019s influence on public discourse through X, and the content it prioritises, is having international ripples. While he has repeatedly intervened in the immigration debate in the UK, he also celebrated the strong result for Germany\u2019s far-right Alternative f\u00fcr Deutschland in this week\u2019s state elections in Saxony-Anhalt<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Speaking at a press conference in Venice, Gibney said he had encountered a \u201csense of fear\u201d among people he approached over his film. He surmised that Musk\u2019s childhood in South Africa may account for how he behaves now.<\/p>\n
