A senior investigating officer has been appointed to lead an investigation into the death of a man following a three-car crash in Co Meath last month.<\/p>\n

A man, aged in his 50s, sustained critical injuries following the collision on the R132 at Smithstown in Julianstown in the early hours of Saturday 15 August.<\/a><\/p>\n

He later died from his injuries in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Drogheda on Friday 4 September.<\/p>\n

Garda\u00ed last month said the man had been injured while standing at the rear of his vehicle, after being pulled in to the side of the road following a collision with another vehicle 10 minutes earlier.<\/p>\n

A third vehicle then collided with the rear of his vehicle and he was seriously injured.<\/p>\n

The two other drivers were uninjured, garda\u00ed said.<\/p>\n

In a statement this morning, garda\u00ed said a family liaison officer has been appointed to support the family of the deceased, and a senior investigating officer will lead the investigation.<\/p>\n

Garda\u00ed are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward.<\/p>\n

Road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the R132 near Smithstown, Julianstown, Co Meath between 1.30am and 2.30am on Saturday 15 August 2026, are asked to make this footage available to investigating garda\u00ed.<\/p>\n
