Gilla Band<\/a> have tackled \u201cpoverty of speech linked to mental health conditions\u201d and schizophrenia on their blistering new single \u2018Alogia\u2019.<\/p>\n

The band are due to release their upcoming album \u2018Pugnello<\/a>\u2018 on September 25 via Rough Trade Records \u2013\u00a0pre-order it\u00a0here.<\/a> They kicked things off with their first new song in four years, \u2018Giraffe<\/a>\u2019, followed by the abrasive \u2018Placeholder<\/a>\u2019.<\/p>\n

Now, they\u2019ve taken it up a notch with the jittering \u2018Alogia\u2019. Complemented by Kiely\u2019s tortured vocals, it sees the narrator descend from fantasising about a life with \u201csteady structure, routine and purpose\u201d into a brutal breakdown, repeating syllables over and over until they cry: \u201cAlogia!\u201d<\/p>\n

Frontman Dara Kiely explains: \u201cAlogia means poverty of speech linked to mental health conditions I was diagnosed with Schizophrenia while writing the lyrics. I thought I could just walk off the old mental illness but alas!\u201d<\/p>\n

Gilla Band are due to go tour in October, where they\u2019ll kick things off in North America. The tour will commence at Philadelphia\u2019s Underground Arts on October 14, where they\u2019ll traverse through Brooklyn, Montreal, Detroit, Chicago, Seattle, Los Angeles and plenty more, rounding off at Washington\u2019s Atlantis on November 15.<\/p>\n

Then, they\u2019ll arrive in Europe to play Paris\u2019 Trabendo on January 20. Visiting Brussels, Copenhagen, Berlin, Vienna, Milan and more, they\u2019ll play their first UK show on February 10 at Bristol\u2019s Trinity.<\/p>\n

The following day (11), they\u2019ll play a show at London\u2019s Heaven, moving to Manchester\u2019s Band On The Wall (12) before concluding their tour at the Grand Classic in Glasgow (13).<\/p>\n
