Garda\u00ed have said the visit of US President Donald Trump to Ireland this weekend is one of the biggest security operations they have ever put in place.<\/p>\n

The force has declared an extraordinary event and it will see garda\u00ed perform 10,000 12-hour shifts between today and Sunday.<\/p>\n

There will be disruption and traffic restrictions in Dublin and Clare during Mr Trump’s visit.<\/p>\n

The first part of the visit tomorrow morning will be concentrated around Dublin Airport and the Phoenix Park and will result in road closures around these areas.<\/p>\n

He is expected to touch down on Air Force One at Dublin Airport tomorrow morning.<\/p>\n

There will be rolling road closures in place around the airport from 7.30am until 9.30am and between 11.30am and 1.30pm.<\/p>\n

Dublin Airport will operate as normal but passengers are being advised to allow extra time for their journey as they may not be able to access the airport via their usual route, and may need to take an alternative, potentially longer, route.<\/p>\n

Passengers are advised to use traffic apps and check the latest updates from TII and GardaTraffic before travelling.<\/p>\n

Passenger Advice – Saturday 12th Sept<\/p>\n

Dublin Airport advises passengers travelling to the airport on Saturday morning and early afternoon to allow extra time for their journey due to possible rolling road closures in the vicinity of the airport.<\/p>\n

Temporary traffic restrictions will be in place on the M50 motorway, with the peak times for these restrictions expected between 8am and 9am and 12pm and 1pm between Junction 3 and Junction 6.<\/p>\n

Traffic restrictions are already in place on the perimeter roads around Dublin Airport, the R108, the R132 and the Old Airport Road and they will remain in place until tomorrow afternoon.<\/p>\n

The peak times for these restrictions is also expected to be between 8am and 9am and 12pm and 1pm.<\/p>\n

There is no parking on any of the perimeter roads tomorrow and the ‘The Mound’ viewing point on the Old Airport Road will be open, but only for pedestrians. Other viewing point will not be open to the public.<\/p>\n

Drone restrictions are also in place around the airport and in other areas.<\/p>\n

Once he arrives in Dublin, Mr Trump will travel by car to the Phoenix Park for meetings with President Catherine Connolly and Taoiseach Miche\u00e1l Martin.<\/p>\n

He will meet President Connolly at \u00c1ras an Uachtar\u00e1in and Mr Martin at Farmleigh House.<\/p>\n

He is also expected to make a speech at US Ambassador Edward Walsh’s Deerfield Residence in the park.<\/p>\n

As a result of all of this, the Phoenix Park is closed to the public until events finish.<\/a><\/p>\n

That means attractions such as Dublin Zoo and the Magazine Fort will be closed to visitors.<\/p>\n

Essential staff working within the park will be allowed access.<\/p>\n

All gates of the park closed at 11pm and are expected to remain closed until 6pm tomorrow, but potentially earlier depending on itineries.<\/p>\n

Trump descends on Doonbeg<\/p>\n

Following the events in Dubln, Mr Trump will fly to Co Clare for the Irish Open, taking place at his Trump International Golf Links & Hotel in Doonbeg.<\/p>\n

Garda\u00ed said there will be significant policing and security operations around Shannon Airport and west Clare as his visit moves to the area from tomorrow afternoon until Sunday.<\/p>\n

Shannon Airport said it will remain fully operational throughout the weekend, with normal scheduled flights continuing as planned.<\/p>\n

However, garda\u00ed say additional secrity will be in place and all intending passengers should have photo ID and valid flight documentation available for inspection.<\/p>\n

\nTrump International Golf Links & Hotel in Doonbeg is hosting the Irish Open<\/p>\n

The Irish Aviation Authority said there will be temporary restricted areas of flying over Shannon Airport and Doonbeg golf course from tomorrow until Monday morning.<\/p>\n

That means any aircraft other than State and emergency aircraft, as well as commercial flights at Shannon Airport, are not permitted.<\/p>\n

Garrda\u00ed say Shannon town will remain open for business and the operation should not impact significantly on the town, subject to any protest activity.<\/p>\n

A temporary maritime exclusion zone and associated outer control area will be in operation in the waters off Co Wicklow.<\/p>\n

Garda\u00ed said access to Doonbeg village, the Trump International Golf Links and Hotel Doonbeg and other parts of west Clare will be restricted.<\/p>\n

Access along the N67 in Doonbeg will also be restricted with diversions in both directions.<\/p>\n

Protests planned<\/p>\n

Garda\u00ed said they are aware of a number of protest groups wishing to gather and that they will facilitate peaceful protests while trying to minimise disruption to Dublin city centre.<\/p>\n

There is a protest march planned for Dublin city centre tomorrow to coincide with Mr Trump’s visit.<\/p>\n

The Irish Neutrality League said people will assemble at the Garden of Remembrance at Parnell Square and march to the GPO tomorrow at 1pm.<\/p>\n

Garda\u00ed said a protest is also planned at the entrace to Shannon Airport. Garda\u00ed said they will issue more information on this if and when it is available.<\/p>\n

Separately, General Manager of Trump International Golf Links & Hotel in Doonbeg Joe Russell said on the News at One during the week that garda\u00ed are prepared for expected protests there during the visit.<\/a><\/p>\n

A protest location has been identifed at Doonbeg village and garda\u00ed say they are liasing with a number of peaceful protest groups.<\/p>\n

The Galway Palestine Solidarity Campaign said it will demonstrate in Galway city centre across the weekend.<\/p>\n
