{"id":621739,"date":"2026-09-11T19:50:09","date_gmt":"2026-09-11T19:50:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/621739\/"},"modified":"2026-09-11T19:50:09","modified_gmt":"2026-09-11T19:50:09","slug":"community-supports-gather-at-mental-health-event-in-county-waterford-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/621739\/","title":{"rendered":"Community supports gather at mental health event in county Waterford &#8211; News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"\">West Waterford Mental Health Awareness were among the organisations to attend the Community Mental Health and Wellbeing event in Dungarvan.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The event was organised by Buion Phort L\u00e1irge and took place at The Park Hotel in Dungarvan on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The event brought together a wide range of organisations and support services, giving members of the public an opportunity to learn more about the help, resources and community supports available to them.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">West Waterford Mental Health Awareness had a stall on the day and chairperson Cllr Donnchadh Mulcahy said it was a fantastic event.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cEvents like this are hugely important because they help people understand what supports are available and who they can turn to when they need help,\u201d said Cllr Mulcahy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Liz Oakham spoke on behalf of West Waterford Mental Health Awareness, while Chairperson Donnchadh Mulcahy and Vice Chair John Ryan were also in attendance.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cA huge well done to Liz for speaking on behalf of our group and to Buion Phort L\u00e1irge for organising such a worthwhile event,\u201d said Cllr Mulcahy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu caption\">Community Wellbeing Day Coming to Ballyduff\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">West Waterford Mental Health Awareness is now preparing for its own Community Wellbeing Day in Ballyduff on Saturday, September 19.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">This follows on from the group&#8217;s recent successful event in Ballysaggart.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The free event will take place at Ballyduff GAA Grounds, with everyone welcome and no registration required.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cThe whole idea behind these days is very simple. We want to bring people together, encourage conversation and promote positive mental health and wellbeing in our communities.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cOur recent event in Ballysaggart was really well received, and we are delighted to now bring the next one to Ballyduff. There is something for everyone and it is completely free. You don&#8217;t have to register. Just turn up and join us,\u201d said Cllr Mulcahy.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/3867981_4_articleinline_1000148509.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" class=\"card-img\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The day begins with Yoga with Fiona from 11am to 12pm, followed by tea, coffee and chats.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">A Bags of Hope Workshop will run from 12.30pm to 1.30pm, focusing on connection and wellbeing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The day will finish with Laughing Yoga with Deborah from 2pm to 3pm.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cSometimes something as simple as getting out of the house, meeting other people, having a cup of tea and a chat can be hugely important.
