ENERGIA HAS BECOME the latest energy provider to announce price increases.\u00a0<\/p>\n
From 12 October, electricity customers will see their average annual bill increase by 4.73%. This comes to an extra \u20ac1.67 a week \u2013 or \u20ac87 per year.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The electricity standing charge will increase by 5% for these customers.<\/p>\n
Gas customers will see a 9.38% increase to their average annual bill, which equates to \u20ac2.74 per week or \u20ac142 per year. There will be no change to gas standing charges.<\/p>\n
Dual fuel customers will see their annual bill rise by 6.73%, meaning they will pay an extra \u20ac4.41 per week or \u20ac230 per year.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The electricity standing charge will increase by 5% for these customers and there will be no change to gas standing charges.<\/p>\n
The announcement comes two days after Bord G\u00e1is<\/a>\u00a0announced big increases in its residential gas and electricity prices. SSE Airtricity<\/a> also announced price hikes last week.\u00a0<\/p>\n Energia\u2019s managing director of customer solutions Gary Ryan said the company is \u201calways reluctant to increase prices\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cHowever, the ongoing global volatility of wholesale energy markets and increased network charges means that it is now necessary for us to make a price change across electricity, and our first increase to gas since 2022,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n \u201cWe fully understand that any changes to pricing affects households. We would therefore encourage customers who are experiencing difficulties to engage with us for support.\u201d<\/p>\n Ryan said Energia collaborates with organisations such as St Vincent de Paul, MABS, Alone, adding that its customer service team \u201care available to speak to any customers experiencing difficulty\u201d.<\/p>\n
