Don Mescall and Morah Ryan are back together, following a brief split<\/a> in mid-2025.<\/p>\n

The couple first met in London, when Don was working on her daughter Bonnie’s music. They were introduced years later by a mutual friend, John McColgan.<\/p>\n

Don and Morah enjoyed years together, but parted ways last year. At the time, the Limerick songwriter cited one of the reasons for the split as ‘drifting apart’. But he said that Morah would ‘always be special’ to him.<\/p>\n

And special she clearly was, as Don and Morah couldn’t stay away from one another for too long.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the Irish Independent<\/a>, he said: ‘We broke up for a little while, and that was just a bump in the road. We were apart for a while, but I don\u2019t know, we saw each other again and, you know…’<\/p>\n

Don recounted that when he was first introduced to Morah, it was as close to love at first sight as it gets. The singer said ‘the spark was so obvious’ and that he felt ‘totally at ease’ with her.<\/p>\n

‘She\u2019s very engaging; I find her really sexy.\u00a0She\u2019s got these incredible eyes, so it\u2019s very hard not to kind of fall into them, you know?’, Don gushed. ‘She\u2019s the funniest person that you\u2019ve ever met. And what I like about her is she laughs not only at herself, but at other things.<\/p>\n

‘I think you need that. I can be guilty of being kind of too intense sometimes. Too songwriter-y,’ he laughed. ‘And then she\u2019ll say something funny, and I\u2019ll kind of flip out at that. And she thinks I\u2019m hilarious.’<\/p>\n

Don said he felt as though his love life was ‘dormant’, but ‘all of a sudden it was back’, and he was looking at life ‘in a different way’.<\/p>\n

Don continued to explain that Morah’s generally the first to hear his new work, because she’s ‘very artistic herself’ and has ‘a great measure on stuff’.<\/p>\n

The singer has experienced bouts of depression for years, and Morah’s very clued into his mental health, often spotting the signs of a depressive spell before he does.<\/p>\n

He said that Morah ‘knows me so well’, and that she ‘spots it’. ‘Sometimes she can help me, and sometimes she knows best to kind of leave me the space so that I can get out of it myself.’<\/p>\n

Don said navigating his relationship through his depression is ‘quite difficult’ at times, but he has the ‘support’ there. He commends Morah for having her head screwed on in terms of the entertainment business, which he thinks helps.<\/p>\n

He praised that ‘for all my flaws and for all my insecurities’, Morah ‘sees something in there that she likes’.<\/p>\n

‘It\u2019s how I am with her, you know. We don\u2019t take ourselves too seriously.
