Ry\u014d Kurashina<\/a> and Issaku Wake<\/a>‘s Jotei Super Queen manga is inspiring a new live-action television series which will premiere in the YTV<\/a> channel’s late-night “Drama DiVE” programming block on October 22. Nagisa Sait\u014d<\/a> (Himitsu no AiPri: Ring-hen<\/a>, live-action Oshi no Ko<\/a>, Tomorrow, I Will Be Someone’s Girlfriend) is starring as the title character Ayaka Tachibana.<\/p>\n

The manga follows Ayaka Tachibana, who lost her single mother to cancer. Ayaka strives to become the “Empress of Ginza” by rising through the hostess clubs of this ritzy Tokyo district. <\/p>\n

As the writer and artist, respectively, Kurashina and Wake serialized the manga in Houbunsha<\/a>‘s Weekly Manga Times<\/a> magazine from 1996 to 2001. The two also collaborated on the manga spinoffs Jotei Hana Mai<\/a> (2002) and Jotei Kaoruko<\/a> (2007). Kurashina later worked with artist Tsuyoshi Adachi on Jotei Neo Miki in 2009, and with artist Azusa Kurokawa on Jotei Yuna in 2011. <\/p>\n

The original Jotei manga<\/a> previously inspired a 2001 live-action film starring Maju Osawa and a 2007 live-action series starring Rosa Kat\u014d<\/a>, as well as a 2011 live-action South Korean series and a 2018 stage play. The Jotei Kaoruko spinoff inspired<\/a> its own live-action television series in 2010. <\/p>\n

Kurashina’s other works include J\u014d-\u014d Virgin<\/a>, Yaoh<\/a>, and Tei\u014d<\/a>. J\u014d-\u014d Virgin inspired<\/a> three live-action series from 2005 to 2010. Yaoh was turned into a live-action series in 2006, and Kushina’s Tei\u014d also spawned<\/a> a live-action series in 2009. <\/p>\n

Under the penname Kei Tsukasa, Kurashina created the Kentoshi manga<\/a> which became a three-part original video anime series in 1990. <\/p>\n
