Last week saw Prime Video cancel\u00a0<\/a>Spider-Noir<\/a>,\u00a0only for it to walk away with five Emmys<\/a> two days later. With no apparent plans to try and get the show renewed, showrunner Oren Uziel is taking the wins in stride.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was my first TV show, and my first Emmys experience. [\u2026] I thought it\u2019d be disappointing timing at first,\u201d he told Variety<\/a> earlier this week. \u201cI didn\u2019t want people going to this big night on Sunday having to worry or think about something disappointing or sad. But the truth is, it became kind of a big celebration of what we accomplished together.\u201d For Uziel and the others attending, winning for stunt performance, title design, and other categories made for an invigorating, albeit bittersweet experience: \u201cThis show was the best experience of my life, and we all got to make exactly what we wanted. My biggest regret about not having another season is that I don\u2019t get to do it again with these people.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for what that other season would\u2019ve entailed, Uziel said he wanted Nicolas Cage\u2019s Ben Reilly to naturally take on a whole new case. That would\u2019ve led to a location swap, with him teasing there were \u201cso many L.A. [or] European noirs\u201d we could\u2019ve dove into.\u201d And with Spider-Noir\u00a0taking place in the 1930s, the show would eventually line up with World War II, which has \u201ca lot of storytelling that could\u2019ve happened.\u201d<\/p>\n

Even with those ideas, Uziel took the same stance as Cage and reiterated the show works generally fine as a single-season affair. He\u2019s got \u201cno regrets,\u201d and the experience making the show was so good, he\u2019s really hoping to reunite with the crew and cast on something else if the timing ever lines up. And if Prime Video\u2019s next Marvel shows need someone to pitch in, he\u2019s down for that, too.<\/p>\n
