\n\tWhile Alan Rickman<\/a>\u2019s legendary \u201cHarry Potter<\/a>\u201d character, Severus Snape, may have been notoriously hard on the children at Hogwarts, in real life, the actor couldn\u2019t have been more different from the pupil-hating professor.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tIn fact, Rickman would \u201cbring in kids every single day\u201d to the sets, said Gary Oldman<\/a>, who played Sirius Black in the \u201cHarry Potter\u201d films, at the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival on Thursday.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cHe would bring them in from a school, he\u2019d bring them in from the hospital, he\u2019d bring friends and their kids in every single day for lunchtimes and things,\u201d Oldman said. \u201cHe\u2019d take kids around to tour the sets, and we\u2019d meet them.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tOldman noted that Rickman believed it was \u201cthe most extraordinary thing, that he was in this world that he got to be in, come in every day, and that he knew how much it meant to these kids. So, he wanted to share it.\u201d He continued to call him \u201cthe cheerleader of it\u201d: \u201cHe was into it, he was doing it, so he was with it and committed to it,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tIn a recent interview<\/a> with EW, the \u201cDarkest Hour\u201d actor also shared that he believes HBO\u2019s forthcoming TV adaptation of the original subject material<\/a> will be even \u201cmore satisfying,\u201d since more of the wizarding world will be able to be covered.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWe had to cut a lot [for the \u2018Harry Potter\u2019 movies], and still we could only get the films down to, like, three hours,\u201d Oldman told the outlet. \u201cI believe [the HBO series is] gonna do it pretty much word-for-word.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tRickman died on Jan. 14, 2016, following a battle with cancer.
