Cage The Elephant<\/a> have shared their new single \u2018Dying In Reverse\u2019 \u2013 check it out below.<\/p>\n

The psychedelic track, which is named after their forthcoming tour<\/a>, is the second to be released from their upcoming seventh album following the single \u2018Beaches In Tennessee<\/a>\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2018Dying In Reverse\u2019 is essentially about a fresh start or a rebirth of sorts,\u201d said frontman Matthew Shultz. \u201cMore in terms of death to ego, renewing the mind and heart. The journey of turning your perspective away from self in order to see more clearly through the lens of love and connect to deeper purpose.\u201d<\/p>\n

It is also set to appear on the EA Sports FC 27<\/a> video game, which is out on September 25.<\/p>\n

Talking about the creation of their previous single, the frontman said it was a fictionalised account of a mental health crisis he suffered in previous years<\/a>, something he previously told NME was \u201cextremely traumatic\u201d. Shultz had been detained in a hotel in 2023<\/a> for carrying firearms which were only licenced in Kentucky and Tennessee. The arrest, a court found<\/a>, was the result of psychotic delusions which Shultz had been suffering<\/a> from as a side-effect of medication he\u2019d been prescribed.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe arrest, without a doubt, was a miracle,\u201d he told NME in 2024<\/a>. \u201cIt saved my life. Following the arrest I was hospitalised for two months. Then I had six months of outpatient therapy afterwards and I feel completely recovered. But obviously, with recovery, it\u2019s a lifelong thing. You don\u2019t experience something like that and not deal with the scars for the rest of your life, I\u2019m sure.\u201d<\/p>\n

Describing how this new music marks a \u201cnew chapter\u201d for Cage The Elephant, the singer recently shared: \u201cMusically, we always want to reinvent Cage The Elephant. We\u2019ve discovered a whole new side to our band, how we look at things, and how we make art. You\u2019re growing constantly as an artist, and I think we\u2019ve tapped into that growth. I do feel like we\u2019re making the best music we\u2019ve ever made. If anything, it\u2019s definitely the most inspired.\u201d<\/p>\n

Last year, the band completed their run as special guests on Oasis\u2019 \u2018Live \u201925 tour\u2019<\/a> and went straight back into the studio.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Oasis tour really reignited our fire to dream and continue to dream,\u201d Schultz said. \u201cI think we realised there\u2019s still room to evolve and push ourselves, especially in the live realm. That tour added to our overall passion and desire to see this thing through. When it was over, we decided not to take a break\u2026 We pretty much went straight into the studio to start making music.\u201d<\/p>\n
