It sits a few rows below the figure everyone already quotes, 3000 nits of peak outdoor brightness, on the same tables for iPhone 18 Pro<\/a> and iPhone Duo<\/a>. Nits get repeated constantly. The contrast ratio next to them has not been quoted once in coverage of either device.<\/p>\n The four displays, one number Contrast ratio compares the brightest white a panel can show against its deepest black, read at the same brightness setting. Contrast ratio does not move at all across any of the four rows. Apple\u2019s own spec sheets treat 2,000,000:1 as a constant across a lineup where almost every other display number changes from model to model.<\/p>\n The brightness figures match too, which makes the silence louder<\/p>\n All four displays also share identical brightness figures: 1000 nits typical, 1600 nits peak HDR, and 3000 nits peak outdoor, on both iPhone 18 Pro models and on both iPhone Duo screens. That trio of numbers gets repeated in coverage constantly, including on this site. The 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio sitting in the same row of the same table, on the same pages, describing the same four displays, has not made it into a single headline, which is the entire reason it qualifies as a figure Apple publishes that nobody quotes.<\/p>\n Same number across a slab and a fold<\/p>\n The more surprising match is between iPhone 18 Pro<\/a>\u2018s rigid OLED panel and iPhone Duo<\/a>\u2018s folding inner display, built around a hinge and a custom nano-texture cover layer Apple designed specifically to reduce glare and minimize the visible crease. Different construction, different manufacturing process, and Apple\u2019s own tech specs page still states the identical contrast figure for both. Apple does not say whether that is because the underlying OLED technology sets the ceiling regardless of the substrate, or because Apple rounds every current-generation panel to the same headline number.<\/p>\n Why this matters if you are comparing screens, not just specs<\/p>\n Anyone comparing iPhone 18 Pro against iPhone 18 Pro Max<\/a>, or either against iPhone Duo<\/a>, usually reaches for pixel density or peak brightness to say one screen looks better than another. On contrast ratio, Apple\u2019s own tech specs pages leave no such comparison to make.
