Before tonight, I hadn\u2019t ever watched the Proms and I didn\u2019t
\nknow what to expect – safe to say I\u2019ve had my expectations surpassed.<\/p>\n

Undoubtedly, one of the highlights was hearing star
\ntenor Nicky Spence\u2019s rich voice for the first time and
\nmarvelling as he moved fluidly between Dvo\u0159\u00e1k\u2019s Rusalka, Baccara\u2019s Yes Sir I, Can Boogie and The Proclaimers I\u2019m Gonna Be (500 Miles).<\/p>\n

Even better witnessing his half a dozen outfit changes, much
\nto our Royal
\nAlbert Hall reporter Rorey Bosotti\u2019s delight<\/a>.<\/p>\n

You’d be forgiven for thinking Samuel Barber\u2019s 26-minute\u201cfinger-twisting\u201d masterpiece Piano Concerto might pose a minor threat to the attention span.<\/a><\/p>\n

But Yuja Wang\u2019s performance and glittering
\nstage presence kept me hooked and delighted concertgoers in the venue.<\/p>\n

For many, though, it will be the Dolly
\nParton tribute<\/a> that sticks in the mind.<\/p>\n

The dolled-up, energetic Sheridan Smith and
\nsynergetic country-duo Ward Thomas brought 9 to 5 and Jolene
\nto life. While Beverley Knight\u2019s I Will Always Love You proved
\nmagnificent and heart-wrenching.<\/p>\n

We\u2019re wrapping up our coverage now as the dapper ladies and
\ngentlemen leave the Royal Albert Hall for their night ahead.<\/p>\n

To conclude, conductor Sakari Oramo left the audience
\nthinking about Parton’s legacy and the future of music, telling us: “It’s
