{"id":623277,"date":"2026-09-13T09:54:08","date_gmt":"2026-09-13T09:54:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/623277\/"},"modified":"2026-09-13T09:54:08","modified_gmt":"2026-09-13T09:54:08","slug":"garcia-knocks-out-benn-to-retain-world-welterweight-title","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/623277\/","title":{"rendered":"Garcia knocks out Benn to retain world welterweight title"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Conor Benn&#8217;s bid to claim the WBC welterweight crown from Ryan Garcia was ended inside two rounds in Las Vegas.<\/p>\n<p>Benn initially beat the count after being dropped to the canvas by a fierce right hand early in the round at T-Mobile Arena.<\/p>\n<p>But the American seized his opportunity, unleashing a flurry of punches which trapped Benn on the ropes until the referee stepped in.<\/p>\n<p>Fighting down at 147lbs since 2022, Benn was facing a significant step up in class against an opponent renowned for his hand speed.<\/p>\n<p>That speed was in evidence in the opening moments as Garcia caught Benn with a left hook.
