Harry Potter<\/a> star Tom Felton<\/a> has said that he is \u201cnot worried\u201d for the mental health of the young actor taking on the role<\/a> of Draco Malfoy in the upcoming HBO<\/a> series.<\/p>\n

The British actor was just 12 years old when he was cast opposite Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson in Warner Bros\u2019 wizarding movies, playing Harry\u2019s school tormentor Malfoy.<\/p>\n

While Felton, 38, has stayed loyal to the franchise and is currently reprising the role<\/a> in the Broadway production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, he is handing the baton over to 14-year-old Lox Pratt <\/a>in the highly anticipated TV reboot.<\/p>\n

And though being thrust into the spotlight at such a young age was an overwhelming experience for the original Harry Potter cast, Felton has said that he isn\u2019t concerned about the level of scrutiny the Lord of the Flies star will face.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou just enjoy it for what it is,\u201d he told BBC News<\/a>, adding that he \u201csaw a lot of myself\u201d in the young actor.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not worried about that at all for him. He\u2019s got a very good head on his shoulders and what you don\u2019t know doesn\u2019t hurt you. I\u2019m sure he\u2019s not one to scroll through negative comments.\u201d<\/p>\n

Describing Pratt as a \u201ccharming young man and fabulous actor\u201d, Felton said that his mum had spoken to the child star\u2019s own mother to share advice, while Felton had imparted his own wisdom too.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m encouraging him to be as cheeky as possible \u2013 but professional first,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

While Pratt already has on-screen experience, having played Jack Merridew in Jack Thorne\u2019s Lord of the Flies adaptation earlier this year, Harry Potter marks a major step-up for the actor and his fellow young stars.<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, it was reported<\/a> that the three lead actors \u2013 Dominic McLaughlin as Harry, Alastair Stour as Ron and Arabella Stanton as Hermione \u2013 will each receive \u00a3500,000 for starring in the first season of the show.<\/p>\n

In comparison, Radcliffe received \u00a31 million for the first film, with the number rising to \u00a315 million by film number six.<\/p>\n

However, Radcliffe has spoken frankly in the past<\/a> about the realities of \u201cgrowing up in the spotlight\u201d, saying in 2016 that the \u201chardest\u201d part was not the drugs or the \u201cstrange, pandering world you enter into\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe difficulty is trying to work out who you are while constantly coming up against a perception of yourself that everybody else already has,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s very important, especially when you become famous young, to work out who you are without fame and without that as part of your identity, because that will go. Fame does not last forever. For anyone.\u201d<\/p>\n
