Water works around the city are continuing at pace over the coming weeks, in an effort to unlock new home construction opportunities<\/p>\n
That’s according to Uisce Eireann, which is rolling out its Accelerated Growth programme to provide essential water and wastewater assets throughout the city.<\/p>\n
Next week, crews will beging the installation of new water mains at Ballyloughane Road – stretching from the Old Dublin Road to the Galway-Dublin railway.<\/p>\n
Once these works are complete, another project will start on the Doughiska Road, with new mains placed from the junction with the Monivea Road to the turn-off for Fearann R\u00ed estate.<\/p>\n
These new mains are being installed to support future housing developments planned for the Murrough and Ardaun areas of Galway city.<\/p>\n
Galway is one of five cities, and the only one in the north-west region, identified as priority locations for investment and set to benefit from the Government\u2019s additional \u20ac2 billion funding programme announced as part of the National Development Plan<\/p>\n
This comes as the upgrade of the Ballybane Pumping Station is set to get underway, which will require traffic management measures.<\/p>\n
When possible, Uisce Eireann says works will take place at night, but daytime works will be needed, with stop-go traffic management required at times.<\/p>\n
