\n\tEXCLUSIVE: Moveria Film<\/a> has acquired international sales rights to No Money No Honey<\/a> ahead of the documentary\u2019s world premiere at the Camden International Film Festival<\/a> in Maine.<\/p>\n

\n\tMoveria describes the film directed by Nicole Costa<\/a> as \u201ca vibrant story of friendship, migration, joy, and resilience\u201d centering on M\u00e1xima Mauricio (she\/he), \u201can Argentine non-binary sex worker in New York.\u201d Daniela Camino of Mimbre Films produces along with Costa.<\/p>\n

\n\tNo Money No Honey revisits personal VHS tapes recorded by Mauricio between 1991 and 2004, according to a synopsis. \u201cInterweaving this vibrant archival material with post-pandemic 4K footage, the film opens a fluid portal into M\u00e1xima\u2019s memory\u2014confronting a childhood marked by abuse and neglect while longing for her golden days across Buenos Aires, Miami, and New York.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tLucas Besnard and Yasmin Porangaba negotiated the sales rights deal on behalf of Moveria Film, with producer Daniela Camino representing Mimbre Films.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWhat really drew us to No Money No Honey was the intimacy of M\u00e1xima\u2019s story and the way the film brings us directly into her world,\u201d said Lucas Besnard of Paris-based Moveria Film. \u201cI was struck by the contrast between the VHS footage of her past\u2014with all the energy, glamour, friends, and parties\u2014and her life in New York in 2020. Having lived in New York myself, I connected with this side of the city. M\u00e1xima is incredibly endearing, and through her story, you get a sense of a queer community and a reality that deserves to be seen and better understood. That\u2019s what made us want to bring the film into Moveria\u2019s catalogue.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tCeskary Avitia of Moveria Film added, \u201cComing from Mexico, I know how much prejudice surrounds sex work and trans identity. What drew me to this film is that it doesn\u2019t try to convince you of anything; it just asks you to listen to M\u00e1xima\u2019s own voice and to the VHS tapes she filmed of her life. Through her archive, someone\u2019s story opens up into an entire community\u2014her friends, their world, and their shared history of trauma and resilience. Nicole Costa gives voice to a community rarely heard on screen, and everyone deserves the chance to tell their own story.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tNo Money No Honey is programmed in Cinematic Vision Award competition at CIFF, the prestigious all-documentary festival that runs Sept. 17-20 in mid-coast Maine. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe acquisition expands Moveria\u2019s slate of \u201cbold, auteur-driven international cinema,\u201d according to a release. Founded in 2025, Moveria is an independent production, international distribution, and cultural mediation company \u201cborn from a collaboration between tech developers Arnaud Schoenher and Tristan de Oliveira and arts and culture professionals Ceskary Avitia and Isotta Tassoni\u2026 Moveria Film merges custom digital tools\u2014including modeling, automation, and optimization\u2014with traditional film production and distribution frameworks, bringing a novel approach to cinema grounded in dialogue across diverse fields to foster new creative experiences, fresh perspectives, and bold narratives about the world around us.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tNo Money No Honey, running time 80 minutes, is directed by Nicole Costa and written by Costa, Daniela Camino, and Melisa Miranda. Daniela Camino and Costa produced the film. The cast includes M\u00e1xima Mauricio Rodas, Sebastian Quiencke a.k.a. La Baronesa Ditra, Antonia Martinez, Nellie Benittez, Mila Miller, Darius M.
