\n The estate of the late Joe Grogan has been administered with Lisa Flaherty named as the sole heir.\n <\/p>\n
The widow of an Offaly farmer is set to inherit her late husband’s \u20ac5.5 million fortune after a controversial dispute with his family.<\/p>\n
The Sunday Independent is reporting Joe Grogan’s estate has been administered with Lisa Flaherty named as the sole heir.<\/p>\n
The news comes despite persistent objections from Mr Grogan’s family who had questioned the validity of their marriage at an inquest into his death last year.<\/p>\n
A formal objection to the inheritance was lodged with the Probate Office but the family has since been informed their attempts have come to naught.<\/p>\n
Their solicitor Damien Tansey says it’s “quite extraordinary” the office accepted and processed the objection and still issued the grant of administration.<\/p>\n
Mr Grogan was well-known for hosting the National Ploughing Championships at his farm in Screggan, Tullamore between 2016 and 2018.<\/p>\n
During an emotional and tense hearing at the inquest to his death Ms Flaherty told the court she had been in a relationship with him on and off since she was 16.<\/p>\n
She moved into his home to care for him after\u00a0 he was diagnosed with cancer in 2023.<\/p>\n
He passed away at his home in April that year, a day after marrying Ms Flaherty in Tullamore.<\/p>\n
She will host the Championships this week which are expected to bring close to 300 thousand people.
