OASIS\u2019S CONFIRMATION THAT they would be returning to the stage<\/a> in 2027 after weeks of speculation has been met with elation by fans.\u00a0<\/p>\n

But for those hoping to see Liam and Noel Gallagher at Slane Castle next September, it won\u2019t come cheap.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The good news is that they won\u2019t have to deal with dynamic pricing this time around.<\/p>\n

Few will have forgotten the outrage during the scramble for tickets for last year\u2019s Croke Park gigs. Prices for the \u201cin demand\u201d tickets jumped significantly above the \u20ac86.50 asking price, leaving some paying over \u20ac400 for a standing ticket and hundreds of thousands of others frustrated.<\/p>\n

After a two-year inquiry by the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC), Ticketmaster is now before the District Court\u00a0accused of \u201cmisleading commercial practice\u201d<\/a>\u00a0– charges the platform told the court will be \u201cfully contested\u201d.<\/p>\n

But the bad news is, even without dynamic pricing, the cheapest tickets for Slane are nearly \u20ac100 more expensive than the asking price for last year\u2019s shows at Croker.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

How much are we talking?<\/p>\n

The fixed price for a general admission ticket is \u20ac181.25, while a front standing ticket will set you back \u20ac211.25. Oh, and don\u2019t forget a \u20ac10.50 service charge on top of those.\u00a0<\/p>\n

If you don\u2019t fancy standing, you could go for a reserved seating ticket in what is described as the \u2018Slane Castle outdoor compound\u2019. But one of these will cost you \u20ac501.25.<\/p>\n

Included in this with your reserved seat in a grandstand, you get entry through a dedicated area and free parking, premium toilet facilities, a dedicated tour merchandise stand and access to the hospitality area for one hour after Oasis have finished.<\/p>\n

Bundles that include a ticket with a return coach from Belfast, Dublin, Limerick and Cork are all priced above \u20ac200, while two VIP packages are available for \u20ac365.98 and \u20ac590.43, respectively. These include extras like merchandise and \u201caccess to a pre-show hub complete with installations and a dedicated team of hosts\u201d for the pricier package.<\/p>\n

There will be no general sale, with fans having to register on the band\u2019s site and hope that they will be chosen at random to receive a code that will allow them to buy a ticket.\u00a0<\/p>\n

What about the other Oasis shows?<\/p>\n

You might be wondering if the hefty cost of the Ireland shows are an outlier in the Live \u201927 tour. The answer is, generally, the others aren\u2019t that much cheaper.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The rest of the dates are taking place in stadiums, bar one. Knebworth House in England, like Slane, is a very grand property sitting on open parkland. Oasis famously played to 250,000 people over two nights there at the height of their Britpop fame in 1996.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The prices are almost the same for Knebworth as they are for Slane: \u00a3170.50 (\u20ac200) for general admission and \u00a3203.50 (\u20ac240) for front standing, with a \u2018reserved grandstand, gardens and house\u2019 package for \u00a3513.50 (\u20ac600).<\/p>\n

Music journalist and DJ Niall \u2018Nialler9\u2032 Byrne told The Journal\u00a0that \u201cbecause they\u2019re big outdoor events, the prices are nearly double\u201d.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a lot more money,\u201d he said, though he said he\u2019s not surprised at the cost.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe way it is these days, all those big tours, there\u2019s a demand for them. They will sell out easily. People are willing to pay for these things for that price, even if they are much bigger fees than we are used to paying for gigs in the past.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite the demand, Byrne said that most people he has spoken to feel the prices are too expensive to justify going.\u00a0<\/p>\n

For the European stadiums, prices differ slightly depending on the location.<\/p>\n

For example, seated tickets in Paris\u2019s Stade de France range from \u20ac84 to \u20ac249, with standing tickets going for \u20ac199.50 and \u20ac249. If you\u2019re in Munich\u2019s Allianz Arena, they are more expensive. Seated tickets are \u20ac96.25 to \u20ac268.75, with standing going for between \u20ac165.25 and \u20ac268.75.<\/p>\n

Oasis will play 11 nights in the Etihad Stadium \u2013 where the Gallagher brothers\u2019 beloved Manchester City football club call home. There, seated tickets range from \u00a374.60 (\u20ac87) to \u00a3266.60 (\u20ac310), with standing tickets from \u00a3173.60 (\u20ac200) to \u00a3206.60 (\u20ac240).<\/p>\n

Celtic Park in Glasgow, where the tour will open, sees seating tickets ranging from \u00a371.50 (\u20ac84) to \u00a3263.50 (\u20ac310), and between \u00a3170.50 (\u20ac200) to \u00a3203.50 (\u20ac240) for standing tickets.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Seating tickets for one of the three nights the band will play in the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas are priced at between $110.52 (\u20ac96) and $546.17 (\u20ac470). Standing tickets range from $324.57 (\u20ac280) to $387.52 (\u20ac340).\u00a0<\/p>\n

Transparency<\/p>\n

Byrne said he was surprised Oasis didn\u2019t give a full breakdown of the cost of a ticket, considering what happened with the dynamic pricing last time.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was expecting them to, considering everything that happened.\u00a0I was like, they\u2019re certainly going to do their best to get this right.\u201d<\/p>\n

Someone who didn\u2019t leave fans wondering about his ticket prices is Harry Styles.\u00a0<\/p>\n

When the Grammy-winning singer-songwriter announced European dates<\/a>\u00a0(including two nights in Croke Park)\u00a0for his Together Together stadium tour last week, his team\u00a0said they were taking measures \u201cto be more transparent on pricing for fans\u201d.<\/p>\n

There was no sign of dynamic or platinum pricing, and the artist-set price \u2013 that is, the price he decided a ticket should cost \u2013 was shown directly alongside what fans will actually pay when venue fees and tax is added on top.<\/p>\n

Byrne, who wrote about this this week<\/a>, said that while Styles\u2019 prices weren\u2019t exactly cheap (standing tickets start from \u20ac142.90), it showed fans exactly where their money was going before a ticket even went on sale.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It also allowed them to compare the markup for the other European dates.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople are always talking about how expensive Ireland is, and it is, but it\u2019s actually one of the lower in terms of markup for the tour in Europe and the UK.\u00a0That was really interesting to me, as someone who covers this stuff all the time,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Berlin had the highest markup at 28.2% for general admission rear tickets, more than double Dublin\u2019s 13.3% rate for an equivalent ticket.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Byrne said artists sharing price breakdowns like this has become more common in the last couple of years \u201cbecause of that Oasis gig\u201d, referring to the Croke Park dynamic pricing incident.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re certainly seeing more of it here from promoters sharing the ticket ranges straight up in the first press release that they send out.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added that he would welcome any and all levels of transparency around ticketing.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s really useful. It empowers people to think about if they want to pay for these tickets and not end up in a situation like the time with the first Oasis gigs, where people were suddenly presented with tickets for double the price or more than they actually initially thought they were going to pay for.<\/p>\n
