{"id":625635,"date":"2026-09-15T19:50:09","date_gmt":"2026-09-15T19:50:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/625635\/"},"modified":"2026-09-15T19:50:09","modified_gmt":"2026-09-15T19:50:09","slug":"man-53-charged-in-cork-with-paying-child-for-sexual-exploitation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/625635\/","title":{"rendered":"Man, 53, charged in Cork with paying child for sexual exploitation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"\">A 53-year-old man was brought before Cork District Court charged with paying a child for the purpose of sexual exploitation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">When Detective Garda Sheila O\u2019Brien charged him he replied, after caution: \u201cNo comment at this time\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The charge states that on a date unknown, between November 2019 and February 2021, he did pay a child for the purpose of sexual exploitation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">He is charged that in a similar period he communicated by WhatsApp to facilitate sexual exploitation of a child under 17.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">A third charge states that on May 21 2021 he distributed one video containing child pornography.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu caption\">Three separate counts<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">He was charged with three separate counts related to the same date, September 3 2021, of possession of child pornography.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Det Garda O\u2019Brien said there was no objection to bail on conditions, including that he sign once a week at his local garda station and have no contact directly or indirectly with the injured party.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Sergeant David Fleming said the Director of Public Prosecutions directed that the case would be dealt with by indictment at Cork Circuit Criminal Court.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The accused was represented by Brian Leahy, barrister.
