Internationally acclaimed photographer, humanitarian and peace advocate Giles Duley has been presented with the 2025 Tipperary International Peace Award.<\/p>\n
The award recognises his extraordinary courage, resilience and humanitarian work.<\/p>\n
The photographer was critically injured by an improvised explosive device while working in Afghanistan in 2011, losing both legs and his left arm.<\/p>\n
Despite his life-challenging injuries, he continues to document the lives of people affected by war, displacement and humanitarian crises around the world.<\/p>\n
Through his photography, Mr Duley seeks to ensure that the stories of people affected by conflict are not forgotten.<\/p>\n
The Tipperary International Peace Award has an international reputation for recognising individuals and organisations who have demonstrated courage and an exceptional commitment to peace, reconciliation and humanitarian work.<\/p>\n
He joins an illustrious list of previous winners including Nelson Mandela, Ban Ki-moon, Adi Roche and Malala Yousafzai.<\/p>\n
The ceremony took place at the Great National Ballykisteen Hotel in Limerick Junction, Co Tipperary.<\/p>\n
